As you grow your neighborhood of sims, there are sure to be dozens you meet with conflicting goals and dreams. These aspirations are what make them unique, and everyone deserves a shot at their wants. However, what do these aspirations mean and how do they impact your sim?
We’ll break down what the aspirations are and how you can pursue them to give your sim a happy life. From the different Lifetime Wants to the consequences of a life poorly lived. Here’s everything you need to know to get started on giving your sims the life they’ve always dreamed of in The Sims 2.
What Are Aspirations?
In The Sims 2, aspirations are what determine a sim’s personality and desires. There are several to choose from (and one that is hidden), allowing you to diversify your sims and create plenty of unique individuals to guide through life.
Children and toddlers have the Grow Up aspiration since they only want to become teens and adults faster!
When your sim becomes a teen, they’ll get to decide on their aspiration. There’s another opportunity in college for young adults to change once they complete their sophomore year, but otherwise, your sim will stay the same throughout their life.
Your sim’s aspiration will influence their wants and fears, which are needed to earn Aspiration Points and live a full life. If your sim completely fills their Lifetime Aspiration meter, they can choose a second aspiration to keep them going.
If your sim’s aspiration meter falls too low, they may need a visit from the shrink!

How To Change Aspirations
While there is no immediate way to change your sim’s aspiration, enough points will allow you to get the ReNuYuSenso Orb. This device allows you to change a sim’s aspiration a handful of times.
For total control, ensure your sim is in a good mood and has at least Gold aspiration. Otherwise, the procedure may fail, and your sim will be stuck with the Grilled Cheese aspiration as their primary goal.
If you want a sim to have this aspiration, then go right ahead and let them use the machine while miserable.
Aspiration Rewards
As you earn aspiration points, you can redeem them for rewards that will make life easier for the household. Below are all the rewards available and what they do.
