Hyper Light Breaker: All Resources, Explained

Where can you find resources in Hyper Light Breaker, and just what do they do? This guide has you covered.

This all depends on overall playstyle, and whether or not you want to pour your resources into unlocking different Breakers, or upgrading your current one. Whatever your methodology, experimenting with different options is usually worth the effort. Here’s everything you need to know about all the Breakers in Hyper Light Breaker.

Currently, Hyper Light Breaker is in Early Access, with only a handful of Breakers unlocked. This guide will be updated as more are released.

How Do Breakers Work?

The Cursed Outpost at sunset in Hyper Light Breaker.

First, it’s important to understand how Breakers work generally before diving into each one individually. Breakers have a handful of key stats that are unique to them. These include:

  • HP – Your overall health pool.
  • Armor – Your damage resistance.
  • Stam – Amount of dashes you can perform.
  • Batt – Ammunition before needing to recharge.
  • Strike – Determines your melee damage.
  • Blast – Determines your ranged damage.
  • Crit Chance – Your chance of dealing a Critical Hit.
  • Crit DMG – How much damage you do on a Critical Hit.
  • OPS – Quality of your drops in the Overgrowth.

However, these stats vary depending on the type of Sycom you attach to them. Sycoms are unique to each Breaker.

Each Sycom also has a special perk unique to just that Breaker.

This means that each Breaker can be customized to your individual playstyle, while building off of their core overall build.

Each Breaker also has a short backstory and personality that adds a lot of fun flavor to their design.

How To Unlock Each Breaker

At the beginning of Hyper Light Breaker, you’ll only have one Breaker unlocked, Vermillion.

You can unlock additional Breakers, like Lapis and Goro, by trading in valuable resources known as Abyss Stones back at the Telepad in the Cursed Outpost.

Vermillion

Vermillion is the first Breaker you have at the start of the campaign.

He’s relatively easy to use and has flexible, standard base stats. As mentioned, these stats vary depending on which Sycom you have equipped.

Not every Sycom is unlocked from the start. Trade in Golden Rations to earn different Sycoms at the Telepad.

Gunslinger Sycom

The Gunslinger Sycom is the first Sycom you’ll have unlocked. This Sycom boasts a pretty unremarkable build overall, but is still very solid.

The main perk of this Sycom impacts ranged attacks, as it involves your Rail. With this Sycom attached, your Rail has a chance to do extra Critical Hits.

  • Gunslinger Perk – Whenever you deal a Critical Hit with your Rail, the second shot will also be a Critical Hit.

Here is a breakdown of the Gunslinger Sycom’s core stats.

Tank Sycom

Unlocking this next Sycom early can prove immensely helpful. The Tank Sycom buffs your HP significantly at the expense of some damage and stamina.

  • Tank Perk – With this Sycom equipped, parrying briefly boosts your Armor.

Because Hyper Light Breaker is such a punishing game, that extra health pool can be a real boon early on.

Lightweaver Sycom

This first Sycom of Lapis’ is her standard. The stats for this Sycom are quite average, but her critical damage is quite high at 170, while still maintaining decent blast and stamina.

The perk for this Sycom is on the lower end of the spectrum.

  • Warrior Sycom – With this Sycom equipped, you gain more from Core upgrade stat increases, meaning the upgrade potential for this build can be very impactful.

Goro

Goro is a slightly slower Breaker with incredible Critical Hit damage and really strong attack power.

His Sycoms offer great rewards to more advanced players, but can be tricky for those just figuring out how to use combat in the game.

Astrologer Sycom

This first Sycom in Goro’s kit has intense Critical Hit damage at 195, plus good Blast and Stamina. His OPS stat is also 2, meaning that he has good luck with drops out in the Overgrowth.

Goro’s first Sycom perk is great, though it’s ideal for players who like to use their Rail a lot.

  • Astrologer Perk – Burning through battery (or ammunition) decreases your Blade skill cooldowns.
