PlayStation has cut the price of PS Plus for new subscribers as well as existing ones thinking about an upgrade to celebrate the Lunar New Year. However, the sale won’t be live for long with this being the last day you can get as much as 35 percent off your subscription for the next 12 months if you act today.
In an attempt to get more people subscribed to PlayStation Plus, and to convince those who are already signed up to make the leap to a higher tier, PS Plus is up to 35 percent cheaper if you sign up or upgrade before February 4, 2025. There are enough caveats to make this a proverbial minefield, however, so don’t commit until you’re sure you’re getting a discount, and that it’s a discount that makes taking the PS Plus plunge worth it for you.

If you’re not currently subscribed to PS Plus then it’s relatively simple. If you sign up to Premium you’ll get 35 percent off, and if you opt for Extra you’ll get 25 percent off. No big discount for those who only want Essential, Plus’s cheapest tier, unfortunately. You will also need to commit to either Premium or Extra for the next 12 months with no discounts for anything less than that.
All of the above means you’ll get 12 months of Premium for $104 instead of $160 if you sign up today, or a year’s worth of Extra for $102 instead of $135.

If you already have an active PS Plus subscription things get a little more complicated. If you’re signed up to Essential, then you can upgrade the remainder of your subscription to Premium for 35 percent off, or Extra for 25 percent off. You can also upgrade to Premium for 35 percent off if you’re currently subscribed to Extra.
The big caveat here is there’s no way to stack this deal. No tacking 12 months onto the end of your current sub. If you’re unlucky enough that your subscription ends later this week, then you can only get a few days of Extra or Premium for a discounted price. If your subscription expired over the weekend, great news – you can get your next 12 months for less.
PlayStation’s latest PS Plus sale comes as it was revealed fewer PS4 games will be given away through Essential starting in 2026. PlayStation explained that with more people leaving its last-gen behind, it makes more sense for PS5 games to be freebies starting next year.
