One of the primary locations you’ll encounter in Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector is the Wellspring. There is something of a civil war erupting there, which, naturally, means you are going to end up being at the center of it. You need the HazNav ship upgrade, so there is no avoiding it. That being said, which side you choose is more than a few dialogue options.
If you side with the Lotics, you’ll be charting a path through an asteroid belt. Siding with the workers will see you infiltrate a ship. These contracts are wholly exclusive, and operate completely differently from each other. We’ll take you through everything you need to know.
Debris Field Contract
If you speak to Malik, and side with the Lotics, you’ll be tasked with mapping a path through the asteroid belt that surrounds the Wellspring. Of the two missions, this is definitely the easier of the two. Juni and Yu-Jin will be excellent additions to your team, here. Use Juni’s enhanced Interface skill to work through the Entry Ateroid, and use Yu-Jin to help with the Endure and Engage-based rolls present on each asteroid.

After planting two Nav Beacons, Kirk will contact you and try to convince you to turn back. More importantly, Tala will add her voice to his. She’ll beg Sarafin to see reason. At this point, you will need to choose to talk Serafin out of pushing forward with the mission, or encourage him to stay the course.
No matter which option you choose, the result will be the same: you’ll finish the contract, talk to Tala on the Wellspring, and gain 2 skill points. However, the tone of their reunion will shift dramatically. What you do here is likely to affect future interactions, so consider your options carefully.
Headstream Contract
If you choose to side with the workers, you’ll need to infiltrate a Headstream tanker and sew the seeds of discontent. Kirk will accompany you on this mission. He’s built similarly to Yu-Jin (skilled in Engage and Endure). Both Bliss and Juni will compliment Kirk nicely: Juni will make winning the Navigators’ support easier, while Bliss makes winning the support of the Engineers a piece of cake.

Lotic Stress
During the Headstream Contract, you’ll need to contend with “Lotic Stress”. After one Negative roll, the comms system will start releasing a distress signal. You can disengage it with the Engineer skill. If you don’t, stress will build with every cycle. One thing you’ll need to take into consideration is the rising tension levels. At five points of stress, a beacon will activate, and you’ll disengage it with the interface skill. Just like with the comms, it will increase the stress level with every cycle.
What Happens If You Fail The Headstream Contract?
If you aren’t able to keep the Lotic Stress under wraps, then you’ll still take over the Headstream, but it will end up being a bloody affair, and it will scar all those involved (especially Kirk). It will also impact the kind of tone of Sarafin’s reunion with Tala. Other than that, you’ll receive the full tank of gas, and the two skill points, and the HazNav upgrade just the same as you would with any other conclusion.
