As a character, Franky is already one of the most unique and interesting Straw Hats in One Piece. Being a powerful cyborg and inventor, Franky brings both a healthy dose of comedy and power to the crew overall, all while filling the instrumental role of the shipwright. Although he never stands out on the battlefield as much as characters like Luffy and Zoro, Franky, especially pre-time skip, was a force to be reckoned with, going toe-to-toe with Luffy himself on One Piece’s Water 7.
However, since his days of being the first Straw Hat, or future Straw Hat in this case, of defeating a CP9 agent, Franky has been lacking a bit combat-wise. While the cyborg does show off some excellent fight scenes, he’s nowhere near as proportionally strong as he once was earlier in the series. While something like this is okay, especially with the One Piece Straw Hat, Franky taking more of a supporting role in the crew as the inventor, seeing Franky with a massive power boost would be incredibly refreshing. Although the character often relies on his inventions to get by, Franky learning the secrets of Armament Haki would be an amazing choice for the character.

Haki Is A Great Power-Up For Non-Devil Fruit Users
Haki, as a power system, has always had an interesting place in One Piece. Mainly, this system seems to reward the hard work of characters who weren’t blessed with a strong One Piece Devil Fruit, allowing them to gain incredible amounts of strength through talent and training. Overall, though the ability can be used in conjunction with a Devil Fruit, it seems like things like Armament and Observation Haki are a way of leveling the playing fields between extremely strong Devil Fruit and Non-Devil Fruit users.

Since his introduction in One Piece, the shipwright Franky has always been a powerhouse of a character. Boasting incredible physical strength and a wide assortment of weaponry, Franky’s powerful cyborg body has always made him one of the more physically strong crew members. Although the crew has faced off against opponents before, his lack of Haki has always set him back, putting him behind Jinbe, or potentially even Robin, in terms of fighting power.

Besides his inventions, fans have predicted that Franky in One Piece will become stronger in two separate ways; he gains one of One Piece’s many Devil Fruit, or he learns Haki. As for the former, Franky had already stated that he wouldn’t want to lose his ability to swim, or else he may have been the new user of the Flame-Flame Fruit in One Piece. This means that the most likely power-up for Franky, outside of his standard weaponry advancements, would be if the cyborg learned a form of Haki.

Although it’s hard to tell which form of One Piece’s Haki system Franky would have, outside of Conqueror’s Haki, it seems more likely that, if he had a form of Haki, it would be Armament Haki. Being a physical powerhouse, Franky often relies on massive punches and grappling attacks to overpower his foes. Although many of his finishers rely on various beam-based attacks, a good deal of his arsenal would benefit from Armament Haki.

On top of this, Franky would simply look amazingly cool with some level of One Piece Armament Haki. If Franky were able to coat his entire body with Haki, similar to Vergo, it would be a great way to reintroduce a subform of Haki that hasn’t been shown in some time. Additionally, if Franky were to be able to coat his mech, the General Franky, with Haki, he might receive an incredible boost in power.
However, as it stands, it seems the One Piece Straw Hat Crew’s shipwright has no interest in learning Haki. It seems the character is far more interested in technological advancement rather than mastering his fighting prowess. In the end, although something like this doesn’t seem likely, if Franky did learn a form of One Piece Armament Haki, it might make for some of the coolest fight scenes the series has to offer.
