Black Mirror Might Be Losing Its Edge
There was a time when Black Mirror was the edgiest show on television, but it seems to have lost its way in recent years.
According to JoBlo, this is the plot summary for the Black Mirror season 7 episode:
“Robert Daly is dead, but for the crew of the USS Callister, their problems are just beginning.”
Milioti is best known for playing The Mother in How I Met Your Mother. She also starred in the anthology series Modern Love, the sci-fi series Made For Love, the thriller The Resort, and, most recently, played Sofia Falcone/The Hangman in the successful series The Penguin. Milioti excels at playing wise characters in strange and unsettling situations and did a great job in the original “USS Callister” episode as a programmer shocked by what is going on around her.
Black Mirror season 7 has a great cast including Rashida Jones, Chris Dowd, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Issa Rae.
According to Netflix.tudum.com, Black Mirror season 7 will arrive in 2025. Although there won’t be another fun interactive episode, fans will be excited to watch a second story about the USS Callister. Now that Robert Daly (Jesse Plemons) is gone, what will happen to the other characters?? Will Nanette be in charge? What’s real and what’s fake? There are a lot of questions that need to be answered in the Black Mirror season 7 episode. The plot summary suggests a dark story with no easy answers, which is par for the course with this beloved series. Besides Milioti, other actors from the original episode are coming back, including Jimmi Simpson, Paul G. Raymond, Milanka Brooks, Osy Ikhile, and Billy Magnussen.
Showrunner/creator Charlie Brooker shared what fans can look forward to in Black Mirror season 7. During Geeked Week in September 2024, he said:
“You can expect a mix of genres and styles. We’ve got six episodes this time, and two of them are basically feature-length. Some of them are deeply unpleasant, some are quite funny, and some are emotional.”
Brooker also talked about the USS Callister sequel episode and mentioned how this is the only Black Mirror sequel. He said:
“Fans of the show will recognize the cast of a certain spaceship from one of our episodes reappearing. We’ve done a sequel for the first time in Black Mirror history. Normally, I kill off all the characters at the end of an episode, and I kept some of ’em alive. I’m growing as a human.”
