All Rogue Companions In The Series, Ranked

Dragon Age is an RPG franchise that has hooked many players through the variety of companions the players have met and interacted with over the years. These companions are not only vital for dealing with the various battles in Dragon Age but have also played a key role in the main stories of the games. Companions fill one of three roles; Warrior, Mage, and Rogue, which also fit into their background and personality. Rogue has some of the most interesting companions within it.

Jerrik Dace

Looking For His Brother And A Forgotten Thaig

• Dragon Age: Origins – The Golems of Amgarrak DLC

Starting off with a companion that players only have access to during the DLC, Jerrik Dace finds himself at the bottom of the list of rogue companions. His story during the Dragon Age: Origins DLC, The Golems of Amgarrak, is quite fascinating, with Jerrik looking for his missing brother Brogan and hoping to find the location of the missing Amgarrak Thaig.

While most Dwarves tend to be warriors, Jerrik took a different path and instead became an impressive rogue. His initial skills allow him to survive in battle easily, while also being perfect as either an up-close and personal fighter or attacking from a distance as a ranger. While Jerrik starts his journey wanting answers and finding the Thaig, in the end, he is persuaded to destroy it, to bury the experiments that were done within.

Tallis

A Qunari Spy That Sees Purpose In The Qun

• Dragon Age 2 – Mark of the Assassin DLC

While many of the members of the Qun players originally met were Qunari, in the Dragon Age 2 DLC, Mark of the Assassin players met their first Ben-Hassrath member, Tallis. Although players are only able to interact with this companion during the DLC, Tallis became a promising rogue for many players who were intrigued by her story.

Tallis believes that the Qun can save people, and she’s living evidence of this. Originally a slave, the Qunari gave her a new purpose as well as the name Tallis, which means those who solve. This purpose is what makes her get the help of Hawke, who may have previously fought against the Qunari, as she needs their help to test her faith and help the Qunari people, even if she is going against direct orders.

Sigrun

Legion Of The Dead Member That Aids The Warden-Commander

• Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening DLC

There has been an abundance of rogues in Dragon Age: Origins, with another memorable ally being Sigrun in the Awakening DLC. Sigrun has already been fated for death, as even before she meets the Warden-commander, Sigrun is a member of the Legion of the Dead.

Nathaniel Howe

The Son Of The Late Arl Rendon Howe

• Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening DLC

Sigrun isn’t the only rogue available to the Warden-Commander in the Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening DLC. The last name Howe may sound familiar to some players. Rendon Howe had attempted to kill the player but failed.

Now his son Nathaniel has returned to find his home taken over by the Wardens and wishes to take revenge. Players who choose to spare this dashing rogue can force him to take the joining to become a Warden himself. Although it may sound harsh, getting to know Nathaniel will help him understand how much his father has changed, as well as making a close friend, and being a great shot with a bow. Plus, players may even meet this Howe once more in Dragon Age 2, depending on whether Nathaniel lived at the end of the DLC.

Sebastian Vael

An Impressive Archer Of The Chantry That Is Actually A Prince

• Dragon Age 2 – The Exiled Prince DLC

Continuing with skilled rogue archers, Sebastian is unlike any rogue in the series previous to Dragon Age 2. While some players found The Exile Prince DLC to be quite lackluster, it cannot be denied that Sebastian Vael had the potential to be an interesting companion, especially due to his royal birthright.

Depending on a friendship or a rivalry with this prince turned Chantry Brother, the player can mold Sebastian how they see fit and how he should react to the death of his family. Through the events of Dragon Age 2, this could mean remaining a kind Brother of the Chantry or becoming a confident prince who can be slightly aggressive.

Sera

Red Jenny And Veteran Prankster

At the other end of the archer spectrum, Sera is another great rogue in the Dragon Age franchise, even if players were initially disappointed by the Red Jenny companion in Dragon Age: Inquisition. Unlike the previously met mysterious Friends of Red Jenny, Sera isn’t able to give the player a lot of answers about the group, other than allowing the Inquisitor to help them help the ‘little people’.

A lot of what Sera says may come off as harsh or uncaring, but her lighthearted nature is incredibly contagious and is welcoming compared to the danger of Corypheus in the third Dragon Age title in the franchise. It’s great to see how she matures in the Trespasser DLC as she acknowledges some of her unjustified hate of elves, even as one herself.

Lace Harding

Impressive Scout Of The Inquisition

Concluding the best of the archer rogues is Scout Lace Harding. Players who have enjoyed Dragon Age: Inquisition may be familiar with Harding, as they tended to speak to her as they visited new areas. Scout Harding returned to Dragon Age in The Veilguard as the only connecting member of the Inquisition the player gets to have as a companion, and she has had quite the glow-up.

Besides the new hairstyle, Scout Harding has an interesting questline that finally explores the Titans of Dragon Age lore, as well as giving a Dwarf magic; something which was thought to not be possible. Additionally, Scout Harding is a great addition to combat, especially as she combines these Titan powers with her archery.

Cole

A Spirit Of Compassion That Takes Away Pain

Across the franchise, there has been an assortment of unique companions that aren’t entirely human. One of the best examples of this has been Cole from Dragon Age: Inquisition. Although at first appearance he may look like a regular human young man, Cole is actually a spirit of compassion.

Cole takes his purpose very seriously, as players will encounter him attempting to end the lives of injured soldiers, hoping to stop their pain. Through the events of the third Dragon Age title, players will be able to push this lethal Assassin to become more human, transforming his purpose from a simple spirit to a real boy, though some players may wish to keep Cole a spirit.

Lucanis Dellamorte

An Antivan Crow Better Known As The Demon Of Vyrantium

• Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Any fans of the Antivan Crows may be aware of the Dellamorte name, especially as Lucanis’ grandmother is the First Talon of this Assassin Organization. Lucanis isn’t the player’s regular assassin, as although incredibly skilled for the job, he has been having some of his own personal issues.

Lucanis is possessed by a demon of Spite who wishes for revenge, like Lucanis, for being trapped by the Venatori. Throughout the story of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, it is up to the player to help Lucanis and Spite see eye-to-eye, as well as get to the bottom of who betrayed him.

Zevran Arainai

The Crow That Tried To Get Away

Although Lucanis is an incredible rogue companion, he isn’t the first Antivan Crow players have been able to recruit in Dragon Age. In Dragon Age: Origins, the player’s life is first threatened by the sweet-talking elf, Zevran Arainai. Although his attempt fails, players are given the choice to end this elf’s life or recruit him onto the team.

Those who choose to spare Zevran have a friend for life as well as a gifted assassin, though we don’t talk about his lock-picking skills. Even as the last companion a player is likely to recruit depending on the order a player has decided to play the game in, Zevran had great potential in Origins, which saw him not only escape the Crows but also return once more in Dragon Age 2 as a regular NPC.

Isabela

A Cunning Thief That Was Formerly A Pirate Captain

A fan favorite that deserves to rate so highly is the pirate captain, Isabela. This rogue has appeared in every single Dragon Age title that has been released but was only a companion to the Champion of Kirkwall in Dragon Age 2. Isabela is more than a pretty face, though she knows how to use it to weaken the expectations of the people who fall for her, as she has shown herself countless times to be able to defend herself and control a crowd.

Although a pirate, Isabela has been shown to have a heart of gold, as it’s possible that she could abandon Hawke during the events of Dragon Age 2, but those that are friendly with her and have gained her trust will see her quickly return to do the right thing during the Qunari invasion.

Leliana

Veteran Of The Blight And Spymaster Of The Inquisition

Before Leliana was the Left-Hand of the Divine as well as the spymaster to the Inquisition, Leliana was a companion to the Warden during the events of Dragon Age: Origins. Her skills as a Bard came in handy constantly while playing the first game in the Dragon Age franchise, as she was not only useful in combat but also for unlocking the various chests and doors the players encountered during their adventure.

Varric Tethras

The Most Loved Rogue in The Franchise For A Reason

Finally, out of all the rogue companions players have met and fallen in love with throughout the Dragon Age franchise, the greatest of all has to be the rogue that has been a companion for two of the games, Varric Tethras.

This surface Dwarf is an incredible storyteller but an even greater friend, with him not only touching the hearts of three of the protagonists in the franchise but also the player. Varric is a great companion to bring along due to his unique crossbow, Bianca, and due to him always having something to say that will lighten the mood.
