The ever-popular Asus ROG Ally handheld gaming PC is now cheaper than ever. Thanks to this Asus ROG Ally deal, you can get your hands on this portable 7-inch Steam Deck rival for the bargain price of just $449.99, with Best Buy knocking a huge $200 off its usual retail price.

This Asus handheld still ranks highly among the best handheld gaming PCs out there, holding its own against newer handhelds, including the Asus ROG Ally X, when you consider cost versus performance. It was already pretty hard to find a Windows gaming handheld this powerful for the price, but this new discount makes it an even more competitive option for gamers.

This particular Asus ROG Ally uses the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU, helping it to run rings around the Steam Deck, as our Asus ROG Ally review explains. The AMD Ryzen APU has eight cores and 16 threads, with an integrated Radeon GPU that offers 12 RDNA 3 Compute Units that give it a decent boost in performance compared to the Valve alternative.

The decently sized 7-inch IPS display comes with a top 1,920 x 1,080 screen resolution, meaning 1080p gameplay is the target here. The ROG Ally also ships with 16GB of gaming RAM, while a 512GB SSD provides storage for the Windows installation and your game collection. While 512GB might be a limiting factor these days, you can always upgrade to a bigger 2230 M.2 NVMe drive, such as the TeamGroup MP44S, at a later date.

While this original Asus handheld might have been superseded by a newer model, there’s still plenty of life (and power) left in this Z1 Extreme model. The Asus ROG Ally has never been cheaper on Best Buy than it is today, and you can pick it up for yourself by clicking this link here.
