How do you complete the The Tomb main quest in Black Ops 6 Zombies? As we know already, each new Treyarch Zombies map comes with a huge main questline, that you can either play through on your own accord, or wait until Directed Mode is added to guide you through. The Tomb is no different.
With the arrival of BO6 Season 2 comes the fourth Zombies map, The Tomb, and a new mammoth questline continuing Maya and the gang’s story. Exclusive rewards are available for completing the main quest before Directed Mode is added, so if you want to be among the first to complete the Black Ops 6 The Tomb main quest in the zombie game, here’s what we know so far.
First off, it’s worth mentioning that this story is a direct continuation of the Citadelle des Morts main quest, which followed on from the Liberty Falls main quest and Terminus main quest before it. If you haven’t already, we suggest completing those first, either using our guides or BO6 Directed Mode in-game.
Here’s what we think might be involved in the BO6 The Tomb main quest:
- Use glowing runes to unlock underground secrets
- The Ossuary, cave paintings, and stone structures
- Tomb statues
- A raging bull
- The skulls in the Shrine of the Hierophants
- A subterranean sarcophagus
- The Doorway to Nowhere
- Shock Mimics
- The Staff of Ice
- The Sentinel Artifact
- Edward Richtoffen
- Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe
Use glowing runes to unlock underground secrets
The opening area of the new map is set overground, but this is just the start of a massive underground adventure. Just like unlocking the Citadelle castle, you must first find a way underground. Perhaps it has something to do with the glowing red runes?
The Ossuary, cave paintings, and stone structures
Once underground, you find yourself in the Ossuary, complete with cave paintings and stone structures. Surely interacting with something here will be part of the main The Tomb quest. Perhaps lighting a fire at the various alters throughout.
Tomb statues
Deeper into the tomb, there are a number of stone statues. Unsurprising in a catacomb, likely representing those who lay here. It would also be unsurprising if interacting these made of part of the questline – though it could be too similar to the knight statues of Citadelle des Morts.
A raging bull
Cave paintings on the walls of the tombs depict hoplites charging a raging bull. Not only may we see some sort of bull as part of the main quest, but we think there may even be some Hoplite zombie variants with unique drops.
The skulls in the Shrine of the Hierophants
As you journey even deeper into the tombs, you find the Shrine of the Hierophants. Here, you can use arrow traps against your enemies if you find yourself overwhelmed. There are also some interesting skulls fixed to chain pulleys, which must do /something/ when pulled on, right?
A subterranean sarcophagus
Finally, a lone sarcophagus lies deep in a stunning subterranean temple, a glowing Aether crystal sitting on top. We’re certain activating or opening this is part of the main The Tomb questline, and perhaps a deadly boss lies within. To find a way to complete this area of quest, maybe look to where shafts of light are pointing in this subterranean area.
The Doorway to Nowhere
Somewhere at the end of this questline lies what you’re looking for, a mysterious ‘Doorway to Nowhere’. To open it, you may need to use the amulet picked up at the end of the Citadelle des Morts quest. Beyond it lies a beautiful but haunting Dark Aether Nexus – and perhaps the secrets to the next Zombies map.
Shock Mimics
No doubt the new Elite Zombie variant will play its part in the quest. Shock Mimics disguise themselves as items around the map, and will grab you when you get close. We think you’ll come across one or two of these when looking for important items that might relate to the quest, so be careful.
The Staff of Ice
As always, the map-exclusive BO6 Wonder Weapon is most certainly going to be part of the main quest. Crafting the item will be its own questline, one that’s likely skippable if you’re lucky enough to pull the staff from the Mystery Box. Don’t forget to save those Wonderbar! BO6 Gobblegums if you want to increase your chances. Once you have the Staff of Ice, it will be essential in some way to finding the Doorway to Nowhere.
The Sentinel Artifact
Spoiler alert. Again, if you haven’t completed the Citadelle des Morts quest, don’t read on. If you have, you’ll know that, with his dying breaths, Krafft croaked out, “Beware the Sentinel Artifact, it could consume you.” Somewhere in the steps we’ve mentioned above, this Sentinel Artifact is likely to appear, having something to do with the amulet from the last quest.
Edward Richtoffen
In the rest of his final moments, Krafft dropped the bomb that Richtoffen is his son, requesting that you don’t kill him. Richtoffen has been a recurring character throughout the Aether story, and is a terrible enemy, perhaps he’s the boss waiting for us at the end of the The Tomb quest.
Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe
Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe is the archeologist who led the excavation here in 1908. He’s no longer alive, but some sort of recorded audio hints will appear to you as you progress through The Tomb.
BO6 The Tomb main quest rewards
The rewards available for completing the BO6 The Tomb main quest are:
- 5,000 XP
- X91 Ice-Pike Staff of Ice skin
- A Calling Card, with a unique variant available for those who complete the quest before Directed Mode is added
That’s what we know about the Black Ops 6 Zombies map The Tomb and its main easter egg quest so far, but we’ll know more, including how to complete it, when Season 2 is released in the FPS game, and we’ll update this guide then.
