The rope is one of the most important crafting materials, and it can be a great challenge to get your hands on a lot of it in the early game. It is also required to build most of the sailing equipment, as well as weapons and other useful items.

How To Get Rope

The image shows the crafting recipe for rope on a workbench in Aloft.

The rope is primarily crafted from Mykter Fibre, which is obtained by defeating corrupted mushroom enemies on corrupted islands. You may have trouble finding many corrupted enemies in the Peaceful Mode, but you can still get Mykter Fibres by defeating the large corruption mushrooms, and craft rope out of them on a workbench.

An easier way to get rope is to forage it from islands. Rope piles are usually found scattered around the islands that have a lot of sailing equipment placed on them. You’ll need as many ropes as you can find as they are used for just about everything in the game, so take some time looking for them.

You’ll find plenty of piles of ropes stacked on these abandoned islands that might’ve served as a flying ship in the past. A good example of this early on is the island with two lost knowledge anchors during the Forgotten Legacy quest.

Furthermore, you can craft other rope variants, such as the waxed rope by pairing together 2x rope and 1x wax from the bees. As you progress in the game, you’ll discover flax fiber, which can also be used to craft rope on a workbench.
