But for now, Arrowhead is taking a break from crossovers to avoid diluting the game (ie turning into a Fortnite smorgasbord of sci-fi shooters), so don’t expect to take on the Illuminate in a brand-new CryNet Nanosuit anytime soon. Bows and arrows, however, are a little more likely.
“I haven’t seen any plans for a bow,” Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani said in the official Discord (as reported by GamesRadar). “But I’d be surprised if we didn’t see one AT SOME POINT.”
There’s Nothing Like A Bow In-Game Right Now
Arrowhead is clearly interested in adding a bow and arrow, even if there are no plans right now. And what’s especially exciting about that idea is that it’d be an entirely new weapon category unlike anything in the game right now. We have assault rifles, snipers, SMGs, pistols, rocket launchers, railguns, and even flamethrowers, but nothing as basic as a bow and arrow.
If it’s similar to Crysis’ Predator Bow, it could be on par with a sniper, but odds are that a bow and arrow would be one of the less powerful weapons. However, it’s worth noting that fans also want to see melee weapons added to the game, and creative director Johan Pilestedt stressed that “balance doesn’t matter” as much in PvE so long as the weapon is accurate, so it shouldn’t be that much of a concern.
Fighting back Terminid with a bow and arrow would look incredibly cool, and that’s all that matters when you’re doling out democracy.
