How Many Pro-Heroes Are In My Hero Academia?

If there are a lot of villains in My Hero Academia there must be, naturally, a lot of heroes to balance them out. Of course, not every hero that graces the stage in the manga or the anime is necessarily a Professional Hero.

Some of them are vigilantes who operate illegally, so they can’t be included in the count of how many Pro-Heroes are in My Hero Academia. Instead, those Pro-Heroes need to be licensed (as far as we are aware) and have a unique name that identifies them as a unique, Professional hero who operates in My Hero Academia’s world.

The count does not include the students in the series, even if at the end of the manga they were determined to become Pro-Heroes. Instead, this count includes the known and retired Pro-Heroes because whether they’re actively out and fighting crime or, instead, working to raise the next generation of heroes, they are still doing their professional heroic duties.

More often than not, these heroes are also competing in a ranked system, fighting for the right to be the number one hero. Throughout the length of the series, both All Might and Endeavor have held the Number One Hero position for substantial lengths of time.

Although the Pro-Heroes throughout My Hero Academia don’t shy away from teaming up when needed (though the top-ranked heroes do often go on their own… a lot), there are only a handful of named and known teams. A Pro-Hero team is an official group that is collectively ranked together, like the Wild, Wild Pussycats.

In total, there are only nine of these designated groups, which is a shockingly small number. Either the students of UA just don’t work with that many hero teams, or it’s more likely for officially designated teams to just not be all that common, even if strength does come in numbers.

There Are 22 Pro-Hero Internship Employers

Yes, realistically, there are way more than 22 Pro-Heroes and Pro-Hero agencies that run internships for the students. Todoroki received over 4,000 offers so yes, there are at least 4,000 Pro Hero agencies who take on interns. However, out of the named agencies and known heroes to take on interns, we only know of 22.

Some, like Sorahiko Torino, are technically retired and are only stepping out for the rare exception (aka the exception known as Izuku Midoriya). For the most part, however, it will be the Pro-Hero agency that’s taking on interns, rather than the individual Pro-Hero.
