Who Is Player 001 In Squid Game?
In Squid Game Season 2, Player 001, who introduces himself as Oh Young-il, is revealed to be Hwang In-ho, the Front Man. In-ho, portrayed by Lee Byung-hun, adopts this alias to infiltrate the games and observe Seong Gi-hun’s efforts to dismantle the deadly competition from within.

Throughout the season, In-ho’s dual identity allows him to manipulate events. He casts the deciding vote to continue the games, ensuring the survival of the competition.
In-ho also forms an alliance with Gi-hun, gaining his trust and providing critical information. However, his true intentions are revealed when he betrays Gi-hun in the end, leading to the final confrontation.
Squid Game Season 2 Ending Explained
After the short rebellion, Gi-hun’s friend, Jung Bae, is killed and Gi-hun is devastated. He is faced with the futility of his actions and then realizes that the games will continue as he sees a second doll similar to the Red Light Green Light game’s doll.
This setup hints at an even more dangerous version of Red Light, Green Light, suggesting that the brutality of the games is escalating in Season 3. And to top it all off, Gi Hun still hasn’t realized that Player 001 was the Front Man all along.
Futhermore, Jun-ho’s storyline, which began in Season 1 when he infiltrated the games to investigate his brother’s disappearance, seemed to end tragically when his own brother shot him and left him to fall into the sea. However, Season 2 reveals that Jun-ho survived, thanks to the intervention of a ship captain.

While the plot follows 456’s attempts to take Squid Game down, no one captures the plight of the regular contestants like Player 120.
The rescuer, who seems to be on Jun-ho’s side, is depicted as a fisherman and someone unaffiliated with the games, but his true side is revealed in the end. The man is seen trying to sabotage Jun-ho’s drone that was being used to monitor the island after he offered to help Jun-ho’s team to try and end the games.
He is caught, but he swiftly kills the person who caught him and disposes of his body during the dead of night, and it seems that his character wasn’t just a nice guy after all.
All in all, this extremely dark ending is only half of the story, and given the second and third seasons were shot back to back, it seems we won’t have to wait too long to find out what’s going to happen in this show going forward.
