Daima’s Deep Lore Makes a Clear Case for a Sparking Zero DLC

Daima's Deep Lore Makes a Clear Case for a Sparking Zero DLC

This article contains spoilers for Dragon Ball: Daima.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is the latest Dragon Ball fighting game. Released in 2024, it has a massive roster with 182 characters from across the Dragon Ball franchise. With a brand-new series being aired, Dragon Ball Daima, comes the opportunity to add new characters and adventures to Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero‘s roster, particularly because of Daima‘s emerging importance to Dragon Ball‘s lore.

With so many characters already occupying Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero‘s roster, adding more characters from an ongoing saga may seem pointless. But Daima includes characters that have become pivotal to Dragon Ball‘s lore, and their inclusion in one of the franchise’s biggest fighting games would be a great addition to its roster, in terms of fighting abilities and reactivity for the characters, as well as episodes to explain the new story and lore.

Dragon Ball: Daima’s Contributions to Dragon Ball’s Lore

Akira Toriyama’s Final Story

Dragon Ball Daima began airing in 2024, and has brought with it some significant lore changes to Dragon Ball despite its seemingly casual premise of the main characters being miniaturized. One indicator that Daima would become a major part of Dragon Ball’s lore was Akira Toriyama’s involvement in Dragon Ball Daima, with it being the last major project he was heavily involved in before his tragic passing in 2024. Daima gives more context to the origin of the universe of Dragon Ball, as well as introducing characters and beings who challenge the core characters like never before.

Dragon Ball: Super introduced the concept of the multiverse, with 12 different realms, all with their own Supreme Kais and Gods of Destruction. Dragon Ball Daima expands on this concept with the lore of the Demon Realm, which has been revealed to be the first and most ancient of all the realms in existence. The creator of the multiverse was revealed to be a being known as Maijin Rymus, who oversaw the ancient demons move from the Demon Realm to other realms.

How Daima Can Be Included in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero

With how Dragon Ball Daima has expanded upon Dragon Ball‘s core lore and worldbuilding, its characters should make an appearance on Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero‘s roster. This could include the Daima versions of characters who already appear in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, such as Vegeta, and Piccolo, as well as including new characters who were first introduced in Dragon Ball Daima, such as Rymus, Degesu, Dr. Arinsu, and the Tamagami. Bringing in characters from Daima would be a nod to the new lore the story introduces, pay homage to the last characters that Akira Toriyama created, and also introduce the world of Daima to players who haven’t watched the series.

The Future of Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero has already recently added Goku (Mini) as a new character to its roster. This version of Goku is taken from Dragon Ball Daima, and could indicate that he’ll soon be joined by the other Z-fighters who appear in Daima. Aside from the Z-fighters who appear in Daima, the new characters introduced in Daima who have contributed to Dragon Ball‘s lore should also be included in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero‘s roster in an update, preferably when Daima‘s story arc concludes. The best option would be to include the characters alongside episodes that explain the events of the Daima saga.
