Gamer Gets Awesome Pokemon-Themed Keyboard Made By Their Wife

A Pokemon fan has received an awesome gift from their wife in the form of a custom keyboard covered with Pokemon. The unique Pokemon present not only features some of the fan’s favorites, but also includes a number of amusing puns based on the keys the individual Pokemon appear on.

Custom keyboard have become a popular way of celebrating a favorite franchise. Mechanical keyboards are often designed with removable keys, so that users can swap them out for whatever they like, whether they want something more ergonomic, flashy, or completely custom. In this particular instance, though, the fan’s wife actually hand-painted the keys, showing a tremendous attention to detail and skill in the process.

Reddit user HolyMatrignomey shared the Pokemon keyboard their wife designed for them. According to HolyMatrignomey, their wife picked up a common keyboard from Amazon, and then went to work hand-painting the keys with some of their favorite Pokemon. In addition to a number of the pocket monsters themselves, some of the keys also feature Pokemon iconography, like the iconic red, black, and white of a Pokeball across some of the keys, as well as Pokemon Gym badges on the function keys. The effort shows the love the two have for each other, and also took a great deal of talent, considering the miniscule size of keyboard keys and the detailed work that went into each one.

Pokemon Fans Notice Funny Keyboard Key Puns

HolyMatrignomey noted that some of the keys are puns, and users have gone to work figuring them out. A few of them include Shiftry on the Shift keys, Clefairy on the Space key acknowledging its otherworldly origins, Entei on enter, and some simpler letter associations, like Onix on the O key or Jolteon on the J key. Players even found puns where they weren’t intended, noting that Snorlax, one of HolyMatrignomey’s favorites, worked perfectly as the Caps Lock key, turning it into a “Snor-lock” key.

Some users expressed concern that the hard work that went into the custom keyboard keys could be harmed by actually using it. HolyMatrignomey responded by noting that they don’t intend to actually use the keyboard, and are going to put it on display. However, their wife accounted for this possibility, as they put protective layers over the keys in order to help keep the colors from fading away with use. Whether it’s put on display or used, it’s sure to be a reminder of the relationship the two share and the fondness for Pokemon the OP has.
