Golden Hands can randomly appear in any dungeon in Persona 4 Golden, either out in the overworld or jumping out from chests. Each dungeon’s Golden Hands will be stronger than the last, and they will always be some of the hardest enemies to take down.
While they are difficult to take down, they reward the party with huge sums of XP if they are defeated, making it always worth the effort to try and take them down. Happiness Hands are the Golden Hands of Yukiko’s Castle; here’s how to take them down so early into the game.

Happiness Hand Affinities In Persona 4 Golden
Happiness Hands have a strong resistance to all elemental damage.
The real trick to taking down Happiness Hands is knowing that the only decent damage they can take is from Physical damage. Almighty damage is usually the way to take down Golden Hands, but that just isn’t an option so early into the game. Happiness Hands won’t do much damage, and will sometimes spend their turn standing around, but they will run away given the chance.
If they hit a party member’s weakness or land a critical hit, they will run, so you’ll need to pick one and focus it down if you ever face a group, as you’ll be lucky to even take down one before they run away.

How To Beat Happiness Hands In Persona 4 Golden
The main trick to beating Happiness Hands is to first fuse an Orobas as it comes with the skill Hysterical Slap. This skill not only hits twice but has a low chance of inflicting Rage on the enemy. Should a Happiness Hand be inflicted with Rage, it will keep using its basic attack and won’t run away. Orobas can be fused using the following Personas:
- Apsaras + Forneus
- Apsaras + Slime
Before getting into a battle with a Happiness Hand, make sure your party is fully healed so that in the fight you can all focus on using physical attacks that cost HP and not do anything else. Have Yosuke use Sonic Punch, Chie use Skull Cracker, and the Protagonist use Hysterical Slap and repeat that as many times as it takes. A lot of this fight will come down to luck since it’s early in the game, and you don’t have many options, but getting lucky and killing a Happiness Hand will definitely level up your party at such early levels.
If you knock a Happiness Hand down, DO NOT use an all-out-attack unless you’re sure you’ll kill it, otherwise, it will stand up and run away.
