A Pokemon fan artist has recently devised a pre-evolution for Vulpix, turning the already adorable Fire-type creature into an even cuter baby. Baby Pokemon were introduced in the second generation of Pokemon games with Pichu, Cleffa, Togepi, and others, and have been fairly popular in fan art, especially for fans who want to come up with unique pre-evolutions of prominent critters.
Vulpix is a Fire-type Pokemon originally introduced in the first generation of the franchise’s games, but it was only obtainable in Pokemon Blue, where it could be captured in Routes 7, 8, and the Pokemon Mansion. While Vulpix never received an official pre-evolution, it evolves into Ninetales when exposed to a Fire Stone. In the seventh generation, Vulpix received an Alolan variant, an Ice-type monster with white fur, which could evolve into a Ninetales with the same type when using an Ice Stone.

Now, a prolific Pokemon fan artist called qobrosii shared their latest creation with the community: Mikon, a pre-evolution for Vulpix. In this baby form, the critter looks like an adorable small fox with lighter colors than Vulpix and less fur. Interestingly, Mikon only has three tails, which makes sense considering that Vulpix has six of them, and Ninetales, as its name implies, comes with nine tails. Qobrosii’s artwork was praised by other Pokemon fans, receiving over 450 upvotes.
Vulpix Pre-Evolution Pokemon Fan Art
This is not the first amazing artwork shared by qobrosii with the community. Last month, for example, the fan designed a possible Fire/Poison-type form for Mega Charizard Z. The artwork was greatly inspired by the Gen 4 Pokemon Zygarde, and it imagined a third alternative Mega Evolution for the popular Charizard, an idea that the creator had while waiting for Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s release.
Earlier this year, other fans have also devised interesting takes on creatures such as Vulpix. Back in March, for example, one fan reimagined Vulpix as a grey fox with adorable yellow eyes inspired by the real-world Canadian Marble Fox.
Another excellent example of an alternative take on the popular critter was an Electric-type variant for Vulpix. In this new form, Vulpix had short dark grey fur with some yellow spots and a symbol resembling a lightning bolt on its forehead. The cute monster had a different tail, too, which resembled a dark cloud. Hopefully, other fans will continue to imagine different forms for Vulpix while Nintendo does not unveil different versions or new evolutions for the iconic Fire-type fox.
