They use the left barrel for pelts, leather, and horns, while the right one is reserved for ores, gems, and miscellaneous items. It’s a clever solution that allows them to avoid using up followers’ carry weight for these items, and they can store their more valuable stuff in a home chest. Because Warmaiden’s is right near the fast-travel point for Whiterun, using these barrels gives them pretty quick access to their items, too.

Skyrim Player is Using Whiterun’s Barrels as Free Storage

One user pointed out in the thread that storing items in random barrels in Skyrim is riskysince they have a 30-day respawn timer in-game. However, this timer resets every time the player enters the cell that the barrel is in. Essentially, this means that the player must enter Whiterun in Skyrim once every 30 days in-game to ensure their items don’t disappear for good. Since Whiterun is somewhat of a hub in Skyrim, it’s difficult to imagine that this would ever be a real issue, although it’s worth being aware of for any player planning on following in Monseigneur_Beee’s footsteps.
