SOFMOD is a special assault rifle that comes fully modded with a red-dot scope and a silencer in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl. Players can either go full gun blazing by switching SOFMOD to auto, or a silent route by switching to single-fire and taking out enemies with precision. It’s by far one of the best assault rifles in the game that you’ll be able to get fairly early in the open world. Here’s how.

How To Get SOFMOD Assault Rifle In Stalker 2
Players can get the SOFMOD assault rifle from the Railway Maintenance Facility in the Zaton region of Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl. It’s the same facility that you visit to get the parts of the PSI protection suit for Yeremeyev in the “Side Hustle” quest.
Reach the facility and make sure to enter it from the southern entrance, which is actually just a hole in the wall. After entering the facility, make your way into the first room, and you’ll find the SOFMOD assault rifle lying on a box of crates on the left side.
In addition to the special assault rifle, you’ll also have a chance to stock up on resources like medkits, beverages, bandages, food items, and ammo for the SOFMOD.
Players can also choose to buy the SOFMOD assault rifle at the trader in the Yaniv region of Stalker 2. However, it’ll cost over 42,000 coupons, which is quite a steep price for any equipment, let alone one that can be acquired for free. So, it’s best if you simply get the weapon by following the method above.
Is The SOFMOD Assault Rifle In Stalker 2 Any Good?
The short answer to this question is: yes! The SOFMOD is an excellent assault rifle in Stalker 2 and is a must-have for players who like to get a weapon that comes pre-built with mods. Despite its lower damage, you’ll get a near-maximum rate of fire and accuracy with the weapon.
It’s perfect for both close-quarters and long-range encounters. However, make sure to aim for the heads, as it won’t do significant damage to enemies wearing body armor.
You can get the SOFMOD AR upgraded from any technician available in the game, except Lens, as he lacks the required expertise.
