Infinity Nikki is a game with gacha mechanics, and one that’s free to play. Fans of the genre will likely know that this means a lot of RNG comes into play, even outside of the gacha, as developers try to keep players involved and, ideally, spending real-world money. Infinity Nikki recently made an unpopular change that encourages players to spend cash and visit the gacha mechanics, but that’s not the only thing players are upset about.

Infinity Nikki Update Makes Unpopular Change
A new change in Infinity Nikki has players talking about their least favorite aspect of the title in hopes that it gets reverted quite soon.
Reddit user and Infinity Nikki fan Complete-Peach-652 shared their despair with the community over the color of their Eureka changing. The player was happy with the color of their Eureka, but once they upgraded the Eureka to level 10, the color changed completely to a random shade. Complete-Peach-652 had mistakenly thought that the color change unlock the game referred to meant that they could pick a color when upgrading, but instead, the game randomly picks a color instead. In a title that’s very heavily rooted in pleasing aesthetics, it’s easy to see why this might be upsetting.
Gamers Discuss Randomization and Gacha in Infinity Nikki
Fellow players in the comments have been quick to share their condolences for the color shift, but many have brought up how this kind of randomization is to be expected in modern games that include gacha mechanics. Players have compared Infinity Nikki to games like Genshin Impact, where the gacha has a large role in determining whether a player gets a character or a weapon they’re after. While Eureka color changes aren’t due to a gacha, randomization like this can potentially keep players engaged and open to the way luck is involved in its actual gacha mechanics.
However, there is a potential solution for this problem, too. Players can choose to visit the Realm of Eureka and get a duplicate of their current Eureka, which is set back at base level. From there, upgrading the new duplicate to level 10 will change the color of the Eureka, potentially giving players what they want. With that said, though, it still means going through the upgrade process again, and the result is still ultimately up to chance. While it seems unlikely that this game mechanic will significantly change, it would be a big help if the developer made it clearer that a color will be picked for the player when they upgrade to level 10, at least taking some of the shock out of the change if and when players don’t get what they wanted.
