There are quite a few quests in Path of Exile 2, but some aren’t obvious or aren’t added to your quest log at all. This is the case with the Golden Idols Path of Exile 2 players can collect throughout Act 3. These items are labeled as Quest Items, but don’t exactly act like one.

Path of Exile 2: How To Increase Movement Speed
To increase Movement Speed, Path of Exile 2 players can get certain modifiers, take certain Passive Skills, or use specific Skill Gems.
For example, picking up a Golden Idol does not add a Golden Idol quest to your log. Additionally, normal Quest Items are turned into an NPC or brought to a location to progress a quest and sometimes get a nice quest reward. In Path of Exile 2, Golden Idols are a unique Quest Item that you can sell for a heap of gold, and there are five in total to collect.
How To Get Golden Idols In Path of Exile 2
After reaching Act 3, and after exploring the ruins of the Vaal civilization below the Ziggurat Encampment, you will be sent back into the past via a portal to visit the once-glorious Vaal city Utzaal – called The Drowned City in the present. This city represents the Vaal at the height of its power, but don’t get too distracted by the visual spectacle of the city’s grandeur.
Throughout the city of Utzaal and connected areas in the past version of this now-ruined Vaal civilization, you may find various Golden Idols. Path of Exile 2 players can find these Quest Items in Utzaal and Aggorat: three throughout Utzaal itself and another two in the connected area Aggorat.
Each of these Golden Idol items PoE 2 players can get are found on the ground or on pedestals, typically in side rooms connected to each area. Golden Idols do not drop randomly from normal enemies throughout these zones.
What To Do With Golden Idols In PoE 2
When you collect a Golden Idol, Path of Exile 2 players can bring it back to the Ziggurat Encampment and trade it for Gold. Not every vendor will accept these unique vendorable items, though. Back at the Ziggurat Encampment, in the north side of the area, talk to Oswald.
He will remark on your Idol, and when you open up the Buy & Sell screen with him, the Idols can each be sold for a respectable amount of Gold.
- Golden Idol: 500 Gold
- Grand Idol: 1000 Gold
- Glorious Idol: 1500 Gold
- Elegant Idol: 1000 Gold
- Exceptional Idol: 1500 Gold
If you find all five Golden Idols in your run of both Uzaal and Aggorat, you will make a total of 6000 Gold. Each item takes up a small amount of space in your inventory, and because they serve no purpose other than being high-value sellable items, portal back to the encampment after finding them to sell them and save bag space.
