  • Fans saw a glimpse of Sukuna and Uraume walking together
  • Sukuna raised Uraume himself

Sukuna and Uraume’s Past was first teased in the final chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen. There, Sukuna admitted that at one point in time, he was at a crossroads and had two paths in front of him. He could either have embraced hatred, the way he did, and become the monster that he became, or given love a chance. Because Sukuna ended up losing, he was hopeful that if there was another life, he would then go on to take a different path. Fans also got to see an image of Sukuna walking with a young Uraume, consoling him while they were crying. This was a clear indication of the fact that Uraume and Sukuna had a very strong bond and that he looked after them long ago in the Heian era.

Come with me child, I accidentally destroyed my cooler yesterday. – Sukuna

Of course, this raised a lot of intrigue among the fans and made them crave more content about Sukuna and his past. Finally, JJK chapter 272, or the epilogue of the series, added to this already exciting ending in a great way and fans finally know what exactly happened with these two characters in the past.

Uraume different league

It is safe to say that JJK’s epilogue built up their relationship even more, and now, fans can finally understand why Uraume was so loyal to Sukuna, and why the King of Curses always had their back, never abandoning them for even a single moment, even centuries after being turned into a cursed object.

JJK’s Epilogue Reveals How Sukuna And Uraume Met

Uraume’s Uncontrollable Powers Led To The Death Of Their Family

Around 4 pages were dedicated to these individuals in JJK’s epilogue, and it opened with a young Uraume covered with frost, being discovered by Sukuna. It was clear to see that Uraume had a traumatic experience, and upon being questioned by Sukuna, they made it clear that because of their uncontrollable powers that freeze just about everything, he destroyed his home, at the same time, his parents were killed as well. Uraume clearly did not understand what was going on, but Sukuna certainly felt sympathy for them. Of course, Sukuna, being the King of Curses, did not make it obvious that he felt sympathy for them. But, he certainly did not leave Uraume alone. This just goes to show that Sukuna always had a soft spot in his heart, especially for those whom he actually took an interest in.

Sukuna asked Uraume to follow him since his own cooler was broken. Undoubtedly, this was only an excuse from the King of Curses to not abandon the child. Soon enough, fans saw these two individuals come across a deer carcass and Sukuna asked Uraume to control his ice powers to freeze the meat to avoid spoilage. Upon realizing that Uraume was hungry, Sukuna told them to eat, since he believes that a person should eat whenever they feel hungry and do just about whatever they feel like doing if they have the capability of doing so. As such, Uraume utilized their knowledge to cook the meat. Sukuna himself enjoyed this cooked meat, and, in a surprising turn of events, asked them if they could butcher humans and cook them next.

Why Does Master Sukuna never feel cold around me? – Uraume

While Uraume was certainly weirded out by this, what surprised them was the fact that Sukuna never felt cold around them. Everyone in their life accidentally ended up being frozen. Uraume was clearly traumatized by the fact that he killed everyone that mattered to him. Yet, Sukuna never felt cold around them even for a single second. Fans then saw these two walk away, just like they did at the end of JJK chapter 271.

Gojo’s death left a hole in JJK. The new head of the Gojo clan has been revealed in the epilogue.

Sukuna then responded by saying that he felt the same way. Uraume too never felt cold around sukuna. Here, Sukuna’s words are not supposed to be taken literally. After all, he does not have freezing powers. But, what he meant is everyone around him is either threatened or intimidated by him. As such, Sukuna feels that Uraume is the only person who doesn’t get this feeling, and that is certainly endearing to the King of Curses.

This is how these two characters ended up warming up to each other, and they formed a relationship that continued for centuries upon centuries. This small flashback was absolutely spectacular for the fans to witness, and at the same time, it also gave them their first proper glimpse of the Heian era in JJK.

Will Gege Reveal More of The Heian Era?

Hopefully, If JJK Ever Continues, Fans Will Get A New Heian Era Flashback

Sukuna jujutsu Kaisen JJK 267

JJK’s epilogue Chapter gave fans their first glimpse of the Heian era. It is safe to say that this epilogue only left them wanting for more. Unfortunately, the author himself confirmed in a message in his final volume that JJK has now officially ended and he carries the many lessons he took from the 7 years of serialization with him and he will use them for improvement in the future when his next work comes out. As things stand, Gege intends to write a new manga at some point in the future, but his priority should be to take care of his own health. While this certainly doesn’t mean there won’t ever be any JJK content, for now, there certainly doesn’t appear to be any sign of that.

What fans know for sure is that the author of the series is going to continue working in Jump with a new story. Every now and then, JJK might get some content here and there, such as a one-shot by the author, but fans should not count on that being the case because there is absolutely no indication of that at the moment.

Regardless of whether JJK continues or not, fans can, at the very least, say that Sukuna’s meeting with Uraume was certainly heartwarming, to say the least. This was a touching flashback that fans had always wanted to see, and now, the author of the series, Gege, finally delivered upon it.

Along with Sukuna, the JJK epilogue also focused on certain other characters, but none moved the fans the way these two individuals did. This only ended up adding more depth to both Sukuna and Uraume, and while fans had hoped for an extended flashback in the original story, they will take this with both hands, because of how important it is to these characters.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Epilogue was released with its Final Volume. JJK’s Final volume is out in Japan on December 25, 2024. The English version of the Volume will be published at some point in 2025.
