It seems with every high that Helldivers 2 hits is followed by a new low. After recapturing the magic of its post-launch period thanks to the Omens of Tyranny update, Arrowhead is once again in hot water with the community thanks to the newly announced Killzone Crossover. While fans were momentarily happy to don the Helghast armour, the prices put them off.

Helldivers 2 Proves Easier Can Be Better
“No pain, no gain” isn’t always the best policy. Sometimes, making it easier on the players can increase playtime and activity.
The crossover came in the form of Superstore items, but with inflated prices. The community hasn’t taken too well to being forced to buy the StA-52 assault rifle at 615 Super Credits or the iconic helmet at 310 Super Credits. There’s also been an outcry on multiple forums, claiming that the prices are exploitative.
Helldivers 2 Fans Aren’t Happy With Killzone Crossover Prices
The Helldivers subreddit, which was filled with love for the new update until yesterday, is now littered with postsabout the high prices of the Killzone items in the Superstore. “I get the game needs to be monetized in some way, I get that the devs work isn’t free, but charging half a warbond price for an assault rifle with no optic is straight up nonsense,” said one of the posts.
Fans also noted that recent Warbonds in general have seen fewer weapons than previous ones, instead being filled with cosmetics and miscellaneous instead. “Legitimately what justification is there for defending stuff like this? It’s not even just this most recent item shop, the warbonds are also shrinking in content. The first few had 4 weapons, 3 skins, all the little extras. The newest one had 1 secondary weapon, 2 skins, and all the little extras.”
Even loyal fans who want to give Arrowhead money find themselves reconsidering their choices after the prices of the crossover were revealed. “Yeah, I’ve just been buying the warbonds instead of farming because I wanted to support AH, but if they’re gonna keep pulling this stuff… Idk, it’s a little worrying,” said one disappointed fan.
Arrowhead is aware of the backlash and has been communicating with the community on the Helldivers 2 Discord server. “Hey – quick comment on the Helghast stuff,” wrote CEO Shams Jorjani, “Firstly – this is our first collaboration so we’ll be figuring it out as we go along. Let us know what you’d like to see in the future. Secondly it’s optional – the more of this we sell – the more illuminate type stuff we can keep dropping for free.”
Jorjani explained that they wanted to “try different things and see how players respond, how the stuff sells and improve over time.” But the community wasn’t too happy with this answer, especially given that the game isn’t free-to-play.
