All Characters Who Can Fly In Marvel Rivals

All Characters Who Can Fly In Marvel Rivals

Summary

  • Doctor Strange can fly and use all abilities while airborne, making him strategic.
  • Star-Lord’s low-cooldown abilities keep him airborne, offering a high-ground advantage.
  • Scarlet Witch’s free-flight ability enables aerial attacks, setting up her ultimate ability.

Taking the skies can be a real boon for a character in Marvel Rivals. Not only does it allow them to avoid the line of fire, but it also enables them to aim at their opponents from afar, giving them a clear shot of their target. Anyone even remotely familiar with the Marvel universe will know that being able to fly isn’t exactly seen as unordinary considering the number of characters that can do so, whether through magic, technology, or other mysterious powers that enable them to take the high ground.

The following heroes stand out from the crowd for being the strongest of them all in Marvel Rivals.

As a result, Marvel Rivals features several characters who are capable of flying, even if it’s just for a few seconds, and it’s these heroes and villains that this list will be focusing on today. Before jumping in, it should be prefaced that only characters who can ascend and descend, either with an ability or automatically as part of their movement, even if it’s only temporarily, will be counted, so characters who can only glide won’t be considered.

1 Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange Can Not Only Take To The Skies But Can Also Use Most Of His Abilities While Airborne

Flight Abilities:

  • Cloak Of Levitation: Ascend and then enter a brief state of sustained flight

Doctor Strange is capable of entering a brief state of sustained flight with his Cloak of Levitation. Not only does this ability have a fairly generous cooldown, but Strange is also able to use all of his abilities while airborne, including his barrier, which can help defend any allies who are being shot out from the sky.

Of course, this also means he can use his portals, enabling him to create gateways all across the map for him and his teammates to make use of. Flying may only be a temporary luxury for Doctor Strange, but it can lead to some pretty strategic plays when used effectively.

2 Star-Lord

Star-Lord Possesses A Low-Cooldown Ability That Will Enable Him To Take The High Ground

Flight Abilities:

  • Rocket Propulsion: Consume energy to gain a movement speed and soar into the air
  • Galactic Legend: Engage in free-flight and lock onto enemies in sight

It’s not unusual to see an allied or enemy Star-Lord remaining airborne for virtually an entire match, and the reason is that his Rocket Propulsion only has a 1-second cooldown. To clarify, Rocket Propulsion lets Star-Lord propel himself high into the sky while shooting off his dual energy pistols at anyone who gets in his way with Blaster Barrage, but with such a quick cooldown, it can essentially keep him in the air more or less permanently.

Marvel Rivals has a variety of game modes that players can try across different maps. Here’s a complete rundown of all of them.

That’s not all though, as Star-Lord’s ultimate ability, Galactic Legend, sees him entering a state of free-flight as he zooms around the map at high speeds while dishing out plenty of damage to his enemies as he goes. A useful hint when using Star-Lord is to use his flight abilities to sneak behind the enemy backline, before then unleashing his Bullet Barrage to wipe out any unsuspecting healers and ranged attackers.

3 Scarlet Witch

Mystic Projection Allows Scarlet Witch To Fly For A Few Seconds Before Reigning Down Chaos

Flight Abilities:

  • Mystic Projection: Enter the Phased state for free-flight

Scarlet Witch has a rather unorthodox set of abilities, but one of her most useful is Mystic Projection, which essentially allows her to enter free flight for a few moments, and she can also choose to exit early. So long as players have a few Chthonian Bursts stashed away, they’ll be able to reign down terror on their victims from the skies, providing them with a useful vantage point.

At the same time, Mystic Projection is also an easy way to set up Scarlet Witch’s ultimate attack, which can obliterate an entire team if she isn’t killed in time. It may not be permanent flight, but this ability perfectly suits Wanda’s other abilities, making her all the more terrifying to face on the battlefield.

4 Cloak & Dagger

Dagger Can Turn Invisible While Elevating Himself To The Heavens

Flight Abilities:

  • Dark Teleportation: Enshroud nearby allies in the Darkforce Dimension and grant them Phased, making them invisible to enemies while Cloak enters a brief period of flight

While Dagger’s abilities are all centered around healing and supporting her teammates, Cloak’s are a bit more experimental. Dark Teleportation, for example, allows Cloak to enter a Phased state as he gains flight for a few moments, becoming invisible as he does so, while also receiving a movement boost.

Considering this ability is so short, it is mostly used as a way to retreat when a fight starts getting a little ugly, though it’s still a very welcome addition to Cloak & Dagger’s kit. It can also help Cloak get into a better position to attack enemies with his basic attack, which can be a little difficult from a decent distance.

5 Namor

When Namor Boosts Himself Into The Air, He Also Deploys A Handy Water Shield For Protection

Flight Abilities:

  • Blessing Of The Deep: Summon a protective barrier while flying upwards

It needs to be prefaced that Namor can only enter a flying state for a very short period, but it can nonetheless come in very handy when trying to avoid enemy attacks. The ability that lets him do so is Blessing of the Deep, which will spring Namor into the air, allowing him to ascend or descend at will while he protects himself with a large barrier.

While this can serve to protect Namor himself, it can also be handy when there’s a fellow Iron Man or Storm on the team, since it can also take a few bullets for them. Namor will still be unable to use abilities while the barrier is active though, so it should only be used as a last resort, especially since it also comes with a lengthy cooldown.

6 Iron Man

Iron Man Can Soar Through The Skies With Ease, Dropping Missiles And Energy Blasts Along The Way

Flight Abilities:

  • Hyper-Velocity: Activate Hyper-Velocity state for swift forward flight
  • Iron Man can also fly automatically

Iron Man’s suit allows him to elevate himself as high as he wants so that he can scope out an arena for his allies. While he’s able to do this automatically, he also has his Hyper-Velocity ability, which will propel him at high speeds in the direction he’s facing, allowing him to make a quick airborne getaway if any enemies start getting too close for comfort.

While lurking in the skies, Iron Man can unleash a flurry of missiles and energy blasts from his suit to surprise enemies, while easily dodging enemy attacks at the same time with his thrusters.

7 Storm

Storm’s Ability To Fly Allows Her To Analyze The Battlefield And User Her AOE Powers Accordingly

Flight Abilities:

  • Storm can fly automatically

Similarly to Iron Man, Storm will already be floating from the moment players spawn in, but she can also reach higher heights by simply moving in an upward direction. She may not possess the same airborne mobility as Tony, but Storm’s weather effects mean she is capable of buffing allies from the skies, while also dishing out tons of damage herself with her Bolt Rush and Omega Hurricane.

Since Storm is one of the slower-flying characters, it does mean characters like Hawkeye and Wolverine can take her down fairly easily, so slowing enemies down with her Goddess Boost is important for any Storm main to stay protected. Additionally, her Bolt Rush can help fend off any foes who think they stand a chance of bringing Storm back down to earth.
