- New enemies resembling Pontiff Beasts may guard secrets or valuable areas.
- Crossbows in Elden Ring may receive upgrades, indicated by a bolt’s significant damage in the trailer.
Elden Ring is one of the best and most complete games of the last 10 years. Since it was released back in 2022, it has captivated players thanks to its wide range of different bosses, weapons, spells, armors, and bows that players can take advantage of. The DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree only continued to build on this greatness by expanding on what players could explore and what they thought was possible.

Elden Ring Nightreign: 10 Dark Souls Bosses That Would Be Perfect For The Game
With several Dark Souls bosses appearing in Elden Ring Nightreign’s trailer, these other series bosses would also be welcome additions to the game.
With the recent announcement of the new DLC, Elden Ring: Nightreign, players now have a new reason to restart NG+, strengthen their characters and remove the dust from their favorite Intelligence Spellbooks. Here are some things players might have missed in the Elden Ring: Nightreign trailer.
5 There Seem To Be New Aerial Attacks
They Look Deadly And Amazing
- Players can apparently take to the skies and slam into the ground now
- There might be a new form of transportation available
Although aerial attacks have always been a part of enemies’ repertoire in the Dark Souls trilogy and Elden Ring, this appears to be the first time that players will actually be able to take full advantage of them. Some Ashes of War already allow for complex movements that not only look great, but deal tons of damage as well.
However, this appears to be the first time that players will be able to actually soar through the skies and plunge into the ground, dealing massive amounts of damage to their enemies. In the Elden Ring: Nightreign trailer, it’s not only possible to see a Tarnished soaring through the skies during combat, but also riding what appears to be a large blue bird, which might be a new form of transportation. Whether the new aerial attacks can be boosted by some powerful Talismans, Rings, or anything else, remains to be seen.
4 Some New Enemies Resemble Pontiff Beasts
The Gaping Jaws Look Familiar
- A beast in the trailer has a similar attack pattern to Pontiff Beasts from Dark Souls 3
- These new beasts might be guarding a valuable secret boss or area
Elden Ring has always had its fair share of terrifying monsters that send chills down players’ spines. Whether it is the revolting snake body of Rykard or the vicious Fingercreepers throughout Caria Manor and the outskirts of Volcano Manor, players will have no shortage of beasts to face.
One of the monsters that appears in the Elden Ring: Nightreign trailer, shares many similar traits with the Pontiff Beasts encountered in Irithyll of the Boreal Valley in Dark Souls 3.

Elden Ring: 5 Things To Do If You Are Bored
Elden Ring is a really fun game with lots of fun to offer players. But if boredom strikes at some point, here are some things players can do.
The new creature’s gaping jaws will surely remind veteran players of said beasts, which are not only extremely dangerous, but also have relentless attack patterns that make them very hard to kill. Whether these new beasts will guard the sanctuary of a boss that wields a powerful Remembrance weapon is still unconfirmed, but their design is already impressive.
3 Another Boss Fight Will Take Place In Starscourge Radahn’s Arena
Radahn’s Arena Looks A Lot More Intimidating Than Before
- The three-headed wolf looks very intimidating
- Radahn’s arena has a more aggressive, hellish look to it
During the trailer, players might have also noticed that they’ll have to fight what appears to be a three-headed Red Wolf of Radagon. This, in and of itself, is quite interesting as it shows an amazing boss design that will surely be very challenging. However, there is more to this scene than meets the eye—at least at a glance.
If players look closely, they’ll quickly be able to notice that the arena where the Tarnished appears to be fighting this three-headed beast is the same one where they thought Starscourge Radahn, which demanded they bring their best early-to-mid-game weapons to even have a chance of survival. In this particular instance, however, the arena appears to have a more aggressive tone about it, as there are many more reds and oranges in the color palette than before.
2 Crossbows Might Get An Upgrade
A Well-deserved Upgrade For A Fantastic Long-range Weapon
- Crossbows might deal more damage in the future
- New, massive bosses to face
Although crossbows are nothing new in the FromSoftware universe, they’re always a joy to see, especially when they appear to be undergoing massive improvements. During the Elden Ring: Nightreign trailer, there’s a shot that could suggest there may be an upgrade coming to this weapon. In it, a Tarnished fires a crossbow bolt towards an enemy, and it seems to have a great impact on the creature.

Elden Ring: Best Faith Builds
Incantations are responsible for the best buffs, but also provide numerous healing options. These will require a Seal to cast, and scale with Faith.
At this point, this is only speculation, but the way the camera was used to close up on the Tarnished wielding the crossbow and the amount of damage that the bolt appears to have done on such a massive enemy could hint at something huge coming to this mid-to-long-range weapon. It’s still unknown what the creature in question is or whether it will be a mandatory or an optional boss that’s easy to miss, but in any case, it’s worth looking forward to.
1 The Nameless King From Dark Souls 3 Is Returning
Fans Of The Souls Franchise Were Probably Speechless After Seeing This
- Seeing this intimidating foe in the trailer left several fans of the franchise in awe
- How the Nameless King exists in The Lands Between is still unknown
This was probably the most surprising moment for most FromSoftware fans all over the world. By the time the Nameless King appeared, players were already sold on the incredible new combat mechanics, aerial attacks, vicious creatures and solid expansion to The Lands Between’s lore, so seeing this formidable foe from Dark Souls 3 was the cherry on top.
Whether the Nameless King will only appear as a nerfed version of himself as it happens with Margit at the outskirts of Leyndell is still unknown. However, many players hope that this isn’t the case, as it will give veteran fans a chance to face him again with the new powers and spells available in Elden Ring and also allow those who never played Dark Souls 3 to experience the frustration of this boss fight for the first time.
