Nvidia RTX 50-Series GPU Leaks Hint at 5070 Ti Specs

Nvidia RTX 50-Series GPU Leaks Hint at 5070 Ti Specs

The new Nvidia RTX 50-series GPUs are expected to be announced early next year, but they have been subject to leaks and rumors for a while now. The latest in the long line of leaks hints at some previously unknown information about the specifications of the RTX 5070 Ti, including the VRAM, power draw, and more. Till now, Nvidia has not shared how many GPUs it will be announcing initially as, typically, the ‘Ti’ models come later than non-suffix models.

Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti: Expected Specifications

According to Wccftech, the upcoming Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti GPU is going to be more power-hungry than previously thought, but that’s a good thing because it is a toned-down version of the even more powerful and power-hungry RTX 5080, rather than featuring a different and lower-end chip as with the RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4080 cards. The GPU is said to be based on the same GB203 chip as the RTX 5080 but will be toned down a bit.

The Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 WINDFORCE OC 12G is a powerful graphics card that can run most modern games comfortably at 1440p. It comes with a triple fan design for better heat dissipation. It boasts higher clock speeds than the Founders Edition card at 2490 MHz. It has the same 5888 Cuda cores and 12 GB GDDR6 VRAM on a 192-bit memory bus.

A single 8-pin connector powers the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 WINDFORCE OC 12G, unlike its higher-end siblings which move to the newer 12VHPWR connector.

Furthermore, the TBP or Total Board Power is a bit higher than what was previously expected. The RTX 5070 Ti was initially said to have a 300W TBP, but now, it seems like the new TBP is 350W, making it a fairly power-hungry GPU. For reference, the RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4070 Ti Super have a TBP of 285W, while the RTX 4080 has a TBP of 320W. In terms of power draw alone, the RTX 5070 Ti beats the RTX 4080, which should translate to slightly better, if not similar performance levels compared to the now previous generation top-tier offering.

As for the VRAM, the RTX 5070 Ti is said to come with 16GB GDDR7 with a 256-bit memory bus and a total bandwidth of 896 GB/s. This is also an upgrade over the previous generation card, the RTX 4070 Ti, which came with 12GB at launch. Nvidia upped the VRAM with the RTX 4070 Ti Super model to 16GB, so it’s great to see the next generation Ti model sporting the higher capacity RAM from the get-go. This also suggests that the potential RTX 5070 Ti Super will come with even more VRAM, possibly 20GB GDDR7.

It was previously shared via leaks and rumors that the RTX 5070 Ti would come with 8960 CUDA cores, compared to 7680 cores present in the RTX 4070 Ti. It should also be noted that Nvidia discontinued the RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4080 GPUs in early 2024.

Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti: Expected Launch

For now, it seems like Nvidia is planning on releasing all six of the RTX 50-series GPUs in the first half of 2025. Interestingly, the RTX 5070 Ti is expected to be the third GPU to launch in the series after the RTX 5090 and the RTX 5080. It has been confirmed that the RTX 5090 will be officially announced at CES 2025 in January. The event is scheduled for January 7. However, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has the CES 2025 keynote scheduled for January 6 at 6:30 pm PT (9:30 pm ET).
