Laziest Sonic the Hedgehog Characters

Laziest Sonic the Hedgehog Characters

Summary

  • Big the Cat prefers fishing over saving the world with Sonic – fans are divided.
  • Charmy Bee is too lazy for missions and prefers playing pranks, but helps his friends in need.
  • Jet the Hawk is a skilled racer, but lazy and cheats to beat Sonic on the track.

In the world of Sonic, being fast on your feet is a necessity in order to keep up with the Blue Blur in his many adventures, but not every character occupying this universe is quite as concerned with saving the world as Sonic is. In fact, there are a fair few individuals who could be considered pretty lazy for how uninterested and slothful they can appear whenever they show up in the games, and this applies to both heroes and villains alike.

The Sonic franchise isn’t all that scary, at least, not until these spooky characters show up.

However, a character’s being lazy doesn’t exactly make them a liability; it just means they would prefer for others to do the work for them while they sit back and relax, which can honestly make them somewhat relatable at times. When all is said and done, though, these are the Sonic characters who display the laziest characteristics across the entire series.

6 Big The Cat

Big Would Rather Enjoy Yet Another Fishing Trip Than Help Sonic Save The World

Sonic Adventure

Released
September 9, 1999

  • First Appearance: Sonic Adventure

When Big is first introduced in Sonic Adventure, he can be seen fishing alongside his pet, Froggy, but this fishing trip isn’t just a one-off occurrence for that specific game. In every one of Big’s appearances, he can always be shown relaxing by a pool and watching the ripples go by, letting Sonic and the gang deal with the big threats while he indulges in his favorite hobby.

Even in Sonic Frontiers, while Sonic is trying to rescue his friends who have been trapped by Sage, the only way Big offers to help out is to give Sonic a rod to join him in a peaceful fishing session. Big’s slothful personality has actually made a lot of fans dislike him, as his gameplay segments tend to be very slow and kind of boring, but as for the character himself, it’s still hard not to love the big and cuddly cat.

5 Charmy Bee

Charmy Can Often Be A Little Too Laid Back For His Own Good

Systems

Platform(s)
Sega Genesis

Released
April 21, 1995

  • First Appearance: Knuckles’ Chaotix

Charmy isn’t quite as optimistic about getting stuck into a new mission as his fellow Team Chaotix members. As seen in games like Sonic Heroes, Charmy is ultimately a very childish and lazy character who would rather be fooling around and playing pranks than partake in a grueling mission.

To this very day, there are still so many questions surrounding these mysterious Sonic characters.

When he does get sent on a mission with his friends though, his immature personality will often get in the way as he daydreams about what else he could be doing if he didn’t need to make a quick buck. Still, he may be a little too laid back for his own good at times, but Charmy would still spring to action if Vector or Espio were ever in serious trouble.

4 Jet The Hawk

Jet’s A Naturally Gifted Racer Who Doesn’t Feel The Need To Train

Sonic Riders

Released
February 21, 2006

  • First Appearance: Sonic Riders

When it comes to Extreme Gear Riding, Jet is a natural talent whose genetics and upbringing make him an incredibly skilled racer on the track. While he may be a formidable racer, even being able to keep up with Sonic, Jet doesn’t feel the need to train or hone his skills, and can often be seen in the Riders games ordering his two comrades, Wave and Storm, to do his dirty work for him. In fact, it was Wave who made his board for him in the first place.

Even when he takes to the tracks, Jet will rarely ever feel the need to actually put his back into it and try, but when Sonic’s involved, he will then resort to cheating in order to one-up his rival. Despite being the leader of the Babylon Rogues, Jet isn’t exactly the most proactive guy in the Sonic universe, and in contrast, has shown himself to be fairly lazy when all is said and done.

3 Cubot

As One Of Eggman’s Go-To Assistants, Cubot Is Pretty Useless

Released
November 16, 2010

  • First Appearance: Sonic Colors

Cubot and Orbot are the two goofy robots who accompany Eggman in most of his villainous escapades. While Orbot is constantly pointing out mistakes in Eggman’s plans and trying to keep him on the right track, Cubot simply leaves the doctor to his own devices so that he can lie down and enjoy a cup of coffee while watching the world go by.

While the Blue Blur himself is known for being an extrovert, these more introverted characters couldn’t be any more different.

When he’s not chilling out and ignoring his responsibilities, Cubot can be found taking a nap or telling yet another one of his robotic dad jokes. Cubot’s slothful personality prevents him from being much of a help at all for Eggman, so it’s surprising that he hasn’t been replaced yet with a machine that could be more efficient and energetic.

2 Zomom

Zomom Is A Lot Less Proactive And Zany Than His Fellow Deadly Six Comrades

Released
October 29, 2013

  • First Appearance: Sonic Lost World

Zomom is a member of the Deadly Six who first show up as the main bad guys of Sonic Lost World. Unlike his comrades who are all known for being zany characters bursting full of energy, Zomom is the complete opposite, as he can often be seen sitting around snacking on food rather than ever being bothered about the mission at hand.

In fact, the only reason Zomom even agrees to help Eggman defeat Sonic is because the doctor offered him a sandwich, which he can then be found eating by the time the Blue Blur runs into him. He may not be the most energetic character out there, but Zomom’s formidable size still makes him a formidable opponent for Sonic to take on.

1 Dr. Eggman

Eggman Lets His Robots Do All The Dirty Work For Him While He Watches On From Afar

  • First Appearance: Sonic The Hedgehog

For the majority of Sonic games, Eggman will leave it up to his army of robots to capture the blue hedgehog for him, rather than getting his own hands dirty. Though he has been seen to take to the frontlines with his Death Egg and other imposing machines here and there, he only does this as a last resort after hundreds of his robots have been torn to pieces by Sonic and his friends, leaving him no other choice.

Whenever Eggman can be bothered to confront Sonic personally, he’s always being carried around by his Egg Mobile, to the point where it’s virtually impossible to ever see this guy walking around to get things done himself. As shown in Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Colors, he also relies on his right-hand robots, Orbot and Cubot, to provide him with everything he needs so that he never needs to lift a finger, and that includes making his sandwiches for him.
