Gege Explains Gojo’s Relationship With His Parents

Gojo is quite easily the most popular character in Jujutsu Kaisen, and at the same time, the most intriguing one as well. Having been introduced at the very beginning of the series, fans know Gojo has always had an important role laid out in front of him. This is especially true because Gojo was known to be the strongest modern sorcerer right from the get-go, and in an age where stronger enemies kept popping up one after the other, fans knew that Gojo would be extremely important in the grand scheme of things.

Naturally, Gojo’s charismatic personality made him even more intriguing to the fans, and ever since then, they have devoted quite a lot of time to finding out every small bit of information pertaining to Gojo’s life. The author of the series, has also revealed quite a lot of exciting bits of trivia about Gojo, especially as of late. This includes information about Gojo’s parents, and the kind of relationship he shares with them.

Gojo’s relationship with his parents seems to be complicated. Although it may not seem like it, Gojo is quite a soft-hearted character. He has always been overly attached to his students, because he cares for them quite a lot. This is especially true because the vast majority of his students are not close to their parents and Gojo helps them out in whichever way he can. A good example of this is Gojo raising Megumi despite not being obligated to do so. He did something similar with Yuta, and later down the line, Yuji. At the end of the series, Gojo left a note for Nobara, telling her the whereabouts of her mother.

But, as far as Gojo’s own parents are concerned, he doesn’t seem to be attached to them at all. In fact, in the entirety of the JJK series, Gojo’s parents have never been brought up even once. This is largely down to the fact that Gojo doesn’t care about them and in the grand scheme of things, they are irrelevant. But, at the same time, it is also a sign of an author who isn’t too keen on expanding upon his world even further Regardless of that, Gege has been asked about Gojo’s parents recently and his answers have certainly been surprising to a certain extent.

Q: Are his mother and father alive, are his parents prominent sorcerers?

A: They’re still alive. His parents gained a higher standing in the Gojo family thanks to Satoru Gojo’s birth, but they’re not really that powerful as Sorcerers. Due to Satoru Gojo’s rapid pace (they couldn’t become involved in his sorcerer education). They grew distant from their son.

As is evident from Gege’s words, Gojo’s parents are alive and don’t seemingly care about him either. It is highly likely that because they did not care about Gojo too much he doesn’t care about them either. By the looks of it, Gojo was only a strategic pawn for them to gain a higher ranking in the Gojo family. Since they weren’t too powerful themselves, they likely struggled to get elite status until Gojo was born. Now, their lives are set and that is all thanks to Gojo. It is likely that goes your realizes that he has helped his parents regardless of what feelings he harbors for them. Given his kind nature, Gojo would certainly be happy for them.

The question of whether Gojo cares about his parents or not cannot be answered fully. For one, the fact is that Gojo’s parents have never shown up in the series and neither has the character himself talked about them. What little information fans have found out through Gege is not enough to arrive at a solid conclusion as to what Gojo thinks about his parents.

But, at the very least, fans can say for sure that he doesn’t care too much about them and has never thought about them even once in the story. The only person that Gojo truly cared about aside from his students is Suguru Hero, his best friend and the man whom he also deemed to be his own moral compass.

That said, fans know that Gojo does have a kind heart, and even if he might not love his parents, he would still care for them in his own way, as is often the case with this character. This just goes to show the complex nature of Gojo that fans have witnessed over the course of the last few years, and it makes them love him even more.

Gojo understands how important it is for a parent to be in a child’s life, which is why he helped out his students who were left orphaned, and others who could have sought out their family. It might not look like Gojo is a very discerning person, but the author has certainly shown him to hold that kind of a personality.

Will Gojo’s Parents Ever Show Up In JJK?

As far as Gojo’s parents go, fans know that they never showed up in JJK. These characters, despite being members of a massive clan, were not important. Of course, this also goes to show that Gege lacks a vision for proper worldbuilding, but at the same time, it is essentially proof that these characters are irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Of course, if JJK ever gets a sequel, chances are that Gojo’s family will be at the center of attention, especially after the death of Gojo. How exactly the author will deal with this plot point if the series ever continues will be interesting to see. But, as things stand, is highly unlikely that fans will ever find out anything about them, which is unfortunate because the Big Three Families of the JJK certainly deserve some more attention and elaboration.

One reason why fans might get to see a bit more about the Gojo family in general, is the fact that Satoru has now died, and consequently, the cursed technique of the Limitless and the trait of the Six Eyes are likely going to be coming into existence again at some point in time. Perhaps, fans will get a glimpse of the next user of these techniques, and that would certainly be interesting, to say the least. For now, however, there is no indication that JJK will ever continue, but, at the very least, fans can only hope that the series gets a one-shot later down the line. For the time being, the author is resting, especially after enduring a couple of horrific health-related incidents.
