It’ll be difficult to survive Lego Fortnite without a home base. Here’s how to get your home base up, running, and customized.
Your house is where you’re likely to spend quite a bit of time in Brick Life, so getting a house set up exactly the way you’d like it is going to be a priority. While it’s a fairly simple process, it’s not explained right off the bat; here’s everything you need to know.
How To Find A Vacant Lot
The first step to getting a house is to find an empty lot of land. It isn’t immediately clear where to find these, but once you know what you’re looking for, it’s simple.
Finding A Vacant Lot On Your Map
When you access your map, there are going to be a few different symbols, each for different things to do around the city. The top left is going to show the key, and what you’re looking for is the blue house icon.
These will be scattered across the map in different places. In the city, there will be apartments/flats available. If you prefer to have your own lot of land, you can head outside the city, where you’ll be able to place full houses.
Scouting Your Vacant Lot
Once you’ve decided on an empty lot to take a look at, you’ll want to scout out the area to see whether it’s a location you’d like to live in or not.
Different areas have very different color palettes and things nearby, and you’ll want to be sure you like the area you’re in before you build your home and start decorating.
How To Build A House
Once you’ve found the lot or flat that you’d like to have, all you have to do is claim it by interacting with the real-estate sign. This is completely free, and you can claim and unclaim a lot as much as you’d like.
Claiming a second lot or flat will remove your previous claim.
When you claim the lot, you’ll have the chance to choose what you’d like to build on it. When starting out, you won’t have enough money to buy a new house, but you’ll have the Classy Craftsman available for free, or a Loft available for a flat.
How To Turn Visitors On And Off
Once you’ve built your house on the lot, the real-estate sign will turn into a mailbox. From there, you can unclaim your lot, which will make your house disappear, and you can turn visitors on or off.
Leaving visitors on allows other players to wander into your house and check things out. They won’t be able to damage or move anything, but if you’d rather keep your house to yourself, you can turn it off. This creates a field around your house that keeps other players out.
How To Move Your House
Moving your house is very easy: simply unclaim the lot that your house is built on, and claim a lot where you’d like to move to.
This is also perfectly fine to do with a house that you’ve already decorated. The decorations will be saved to that house, so that when you go to place it somewhere new, all the decorations come along with it.
You can remove decorations in bulk when placing a new house, if you’d like a fresh start. You’ll need to do this when claiming a new lot, as you select which house you’d like to place.
How To Buy A New House
Buying new houses is simple, but does require a bit of money. To do this, open up your in-game phone, and navigate to the ‘Homes’ section. There are quite a few to choose from, ranging in price from 10,000 to 50,000.
How To Decorate Your House
To decorate your house, get inside your lot and select the ‘Decorate’ button displayed at the bottom left of your screen. From there, you can choose between different decoration types, or enter ‘Edit’ mode, which allows you to move or remove already placed decorations.
You can have a maximum of 150 decorations placed in your house.
How To Buy New Decorations
Buying new decorations follows the same process as buying a new house. Instead of the ‘Home’ section of your phone, head to the ‘Decor’ section. There are a lot of decorations to choose from, and you’ll need to purchase multiples of any decoration that you’d like to place more than once.
