The Penguin: Season One Is Coming To 4K Blu-Ray, Preorders Now Live

One of the biggest surprises in 2022’s The Batman was Colin Farrell’s performance as Oswald Cobb–the infamous gangster also known as the Penguin. Farrel’s scene-stealing role led to a limited series on HBO Max, which recently concluded its first season and is now headed to 4K Blu-ray on March 18, 2025. Preorders are now open at Amazon, and fans can snag a copy for $47.

Once again starring Farrell–under a lot of make-up–as the titular crime boss, The Penguin takes place in the aftermath of Matt Reeve’s 2022 film, The Batman. While you won’t see the Dark Knight in the show, Farrell’s performance as The Penguin is more than enough to carry the series, which follows the villain’s attempts to seize control of Gotham’s criminal underworld while facing some stiff competition along the way. The show received positive reviews across its eight-episode run, with critics praising it as a slick Batman spin-off.

If you haven’t seen The Batman, you’ll want to watch the film before starting The Penguin since it introduces this new version of the villain and sets up the events covered in the TV show. Luckily, you can get The Batman on 4K Blu-ray for just $15 at Amazon (was $34). A standard Blu-ray edition is also available for $14 (was $20). Both versions include plenty of bonus content, including a look at Farrell’s transformation into the Penguin. If you want an even deeper look behind the scenes of the movie, you can also pick up the official art book, The Art of The Batman, for $22.50 (was $45).
