Never bet against the underdog and that is what was on display in the first lower bracket game between Team Spirit and Team Vamos. The team from the CIS region took down the home squad 3-1 to make it to the next round in the Knockout Stage. Here’s how the match unfolded in the Knockout Stage of the MLBB M6 in Malaysia.
Team Spirit carries the CIS region’s hopes in the MLBB M6
Team Spirit has been on a roll in the MLBB M6 World Championship. Their most impressive performance came during the Swiss Stage when they took down Team Liquid ID. However, the match was a best-of-one, which allowed naysayers to say that it could be a fluke.
Coming into the lower bracket, they were the underdogs. Team Vamos were the second seed from Malaysia, and with the home crowd rallying behind them, most people expected them to move into the next round.
Team Spirit, however, had different plans. After trading wins in the first three games, Map 4 was do-or-die for Team Vamos. They gave it their all in this round, pushing the game to more than 25 minutes, but ultimately succumbed to Team Spirit’s prowess.
What’s next for Team Spirit?
Team spirit now moves into the next round, where they will face Myanmar’s Falcon Esports. This team placed third in the Swiss Stage and even won their match against the MSC 2024 champions, Selangor Red Giants. They also took Fnatic Onic PH, one of the favorites to game 5 in the upper bracket.
However, Team Spirit has shown resilience and a drive to win. Fans can tune into the action on Dec. 11 at 3 p.m. GMT on the MLBB Esports YouTube channel.
The MLBB M6 World Championship is taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from Nov. 21 to Dec. 15 with a prize pool of $1 million. For fans, there is a lot of exciting esports action along with in-game events like the M6 Pass Event.
