How to Play Competitive & All Ranks Explained in Marvel Rivals
In Marvel Rivals, Competitive Play was officially released in Season 0, on December 8, 2024, just mere days after the launch of the game. However, players won’t be able to just go right ahead and jump into Competitive without a few restrictions, as this option is first locked to new players of the game.
To unlock Competitive Play in Marvel Rivals, your player profile must reach level 10 or above, which can simply be farmed by playing other modes of the game, such as Quick Play. Earning more victories will enable you to farm the XP needed to reach level 10 much quicker, meaning it is very doable to reach in just one or two sessions, depending on how quickly you’re able to get the hang of things.
All Competitive Ranks in Marvel Rivals
In Marvel Rivals, there are eight different Rank divisions for Competitive Play. Each rank up to Grandmaster has three subdivisions, with 3/III being the lowest subdivision/floor of each rank, 2/II being the middle ground of each subdivision, and 1/I being the ceiling of each subdivision. Following Grandmaster, the Eternity and One Above All Ranks are determined by a points system, and start to make up the ‘Top 500’ level of gameplay.
Here is every Rank in Marvel Rivals and order of rank-up:
- Bronze III, Brone II, Bronze I
- Silver III, Silver II, Silver I
- Gold III, Gold II, Gold I
- Platinum III, Platinum II, Platinum I
- Diamond III, Diamond II, Diamond I
- Grandmaster III, Grandmaster II, Grandmaster I
- Eternity
- One Above All
Your skill level is determined by your Win-Loss ratio, meaning that in order to rank up in Marvel Rivals, you must essentially continue to perform well and farm victories throughout your matches. Consecutive Victories make ranking up quicker, while consecutive losses can hinder your progress by losing the percentage you gained in past victories. Your skill level is also shared in general/among the entire roster, rather than determined on a role-by-role basis, due to the free will to pick any team composition in Marvel Rivals, so players should keep this in mind.
Lastly, with each season that comes and passes, there is likely to be Competitive event rewards. This has already been seen in Season 0 where players who reach the Gold Rank at any point throughout the season will receive a free cosmetic for Moon Knight, where players who manage to hit Grandmaster and above will also gain a Crest of Honor.
