Each skill tree available to a character will be helpful to them in some way in Dragon Quest 11, with some focusing on specific weapons that the character can use. If you reach the max level, you’ll be able to unlock just about every skill, though, throughout much of the base game, you may want to try out different skills to find the best build.
Different classes of weapons also function very differently and also give characters access to very different abilities tied to that weapon. Should you ever want to try and respec a character, here’s how to do it.

Dragon Quest 11 S adds a whole new act filled with content. Here are 10 things to do after completing Square Enix’s JRPG on the Nintendo Switch.
How To Respec In Dragon Quest 11
To respec, head to any church and select Rectification, which is this game’s fancy word for skill point resetting. You’ll be able to respec any character’s skill points, though the system may not be as straightforward as you think.
- Each skill point you reset will cost 20 Gold a piece.
- You can only reset entire skill trees at a time, not individual skills.
You are able to reset all the purchased skills on any character, but since they can only be done in bulk this will greatly increase the price as you progress the game especially if you only want to reset a single skill. Resetting a skill tree will give all skill points back that can be used again freely however you want, though this system also makes sure you only buy the skills in the right order for each tree.

How To Unlock Rectification In Dragon Quest 11
If you’re early into the game and don’t see Rectification, that’s because it is a process that will automatically be unlocked at all churches after a bit of progress in the main story. Stick to the main story until you reach The Cryptic Crypt, with the next two party members joining halfway through the dungeon. After completing the dungeon, the story will make you return to two where the two party members will officially join, and the process of Rectification will be unlocked at every church.
One of the new party members will also teach you Zoom which is crucial for getting around the world for free.
Churches can be found in any city, or village and randomly between long stretches between towns. With Zoom you can travel to any of these main towns or checkpoint churches, making Rectification available just about anywhere. It can also be done at the statue at campsites should you wish to do it there also.
