Tidal Guidance and pity mechanic
Here are some additional details:
- Each gacha “pull” or “wish” costs 1x Resonite Crystal (more on this currency later).
- Outfit sets can have eight or more parts.
- The pity mechanic ensures that you’re guaranteed at least one 5-star item/part every 20 pulls.
- Tidal Guidance, which appears as a star icon at the right-hand side of the screen, allows you to select a 5-star outfit from the banner. You’re guaranteed to receive parts from that outfit set whenever you’re lucky enough to get a 5-star roll.
The above might sound player-friendly, at least on paper. However, we feel that this can exacerbate unnecessary spending. This is primarily because outfit sets have separate/individual parts, such as hairstyles, accessories, shoes, dresses, and other frills. It’s extremely unlikely to get a full set within just a few pulls.
Likewise, if we take the pity mechanic and Tidal Guidance into consideration, then these concepts might affect the player psychologically, nudging them to pull/spend more and more as they get closer to completing a particular set with numerous clothing parts.
Lastly, in our experience, we actually spent a lot of Resonite Crystals and Diamonds, enough to have 100 pulls, and we still weren’t able to obtain a full Whisper of Waves outfit set.
