Marvel Rivals launch week is here and the ambitious hero shooter is set to get its full release this Friday, December 6, 2024. The beta Netease ran over the summer generated a lot of attention and received a lot of positive feedback, and the reveals made as we close in on its launch have been echoing that. Those reveals include some PlayStation-exclusive offers for those of you who plan to play on PS Plus.

The other PlayStation-centric Rivals announcement involves another character on the roster from the Spider-Verse – Peni Parker. Also shared via PlayStation Blog, PS Plus subscribers will be able to claim Peni’s Venom suit for free. It notes that those without a PS Plus subscription will also be able to get Peni’s Venom look, but they’ll have to use in-game currency to buy it. What isn’t clear is whether the Venom suit will be locked to PS5 like the Scarlet Spider suit, or if players on PC and Xbox will be able to unlock it too.
The build to Rival’s release was kicked up a notch at the weekend when Netease debuted the game’s launch trailer, filling the remaining spots in what will be a 33-character launch roster. Among the new reveals was Wolverine, but Marvel fans appear to be less than enamored with the X-Man’s default in-game look. There might be a Fortnite collaboration in the latest live service game’s future too.
