An inventive Pokemon TCG Pocket fan has created a concept showing what it would be like if the game had shiny Pokemon cards. Pokemon TCG Pocket brings the experience of physical trading cards to mobile devices, allowing players to collect 216 cards from the game’s first set. There are basic, full art, immersive cards, along with the popular ex up for grabs.
However, something still to come to DeNA’s title is shiny cards, a feature that Pokemon TCG has had for over 20 years. Introduced in 2001 with the release of the Neo Revelation expansion, the first shiny Pokemon to get cards were Magikarp and Gyarados. Since then, these cards have become famous with collectors due to their rarity. They were featured in other Pokemon TCG sets, such as Hidden Fates, Shining Fates, and Paldean Fates, the latter of which introduced more than 130 shiny critter cards.

Pokemon TCG Pocket Player Gives Clever Tip for PvE Events
A Pokemon TCG Pocket player shares a golden tip, and explains how the community can get the most out of PvE events by using it.
Redditor mikefromto has made a concept of shiny Pokemon cards for Pokemon TCG Pocket, sharing the idea with the community. They showcase three cards, the first being the shiny Gyarados, which have been recolored to red, with a red border. The second artwork turns the coveted Charizard ex card into a shiny one, with a black border to match the alternative design of the beloved Fire-type. Finally, they show what a shiny Mewtwo ex card would look like, and although it’s a subtle change, players can see the shades of green in the pocket monster’s design.
Fan Concept Creates Shiny Pokemon Cards for Pokemon TCG Pocket
The comments section reacted positively to the OP’s idea, mainly highlighting the desire to see the shiny Gyarados card, a Pokemon fan favorite, introduced to the mobile game. Another Redditor came up with an even more inventive idea, that instead of shiny Pokemon being introduced as cards, they could be introduced as flairs. As well as collecting cards, players can add effects to Pokemon TCG Pocket cards. To craft a flair, they need Shinedust and extra copies of the card they want to get the effect on.
It’s not known when, or even if, DeNA will add the shiny Pokemon cards. But since the game reproduces many aspects of Pokemon TCG, such as the promotional card markings, there is always a chance this feature will be introduced in a future update. In the meantime, the community can expand their collections by joining the Venusaur PvE event, whose prize pool features five cards with alternative illustrations, including a full art piece of the Kanto starter.
