The brand new Meta Quest 3S has somehow found it in the Cyber Monday deals aisle, and I’m a little shocked. When a new bit of gaming hardware comes out in the first half of the calendar year, you can pretty much bet it will be on offer during Cyber Monday. When a new VR device drops around a month before Black Friday, it’s much harder to expect it’ll land itself a pre-Christmas discount.
And yet, here I am, sifting through the early Cyber Monday deals already available, and the latest addition to the brand’s headset lineup has dropped in price by £20. The Quest 3S 256GB model is going for £359 at Amazon at the moment, and the even more affordable 128GB model is going for £275 at EE, £10 down from its launch price.
Cyber Monday Meta Quest deals have continued straight on from Black Friday ones, and that means there are plenty of accessories and bundles still going at the moment too. Thankfully, the Quest 3S’s launch bundle that gets you a free copy of Batman: Arkham Shadow is still active, so no matter which size of headset you go for here, you’ll get at least one game to kickstart your VR library.
The Quest 3S feels like a spiritual successor to the Quest 2 in that it’s an affordable device that doesn’t have the most incredible specs out there but has plenty for people to enjoy. If you haven’t owned a VR headset yet but you’ve always been intrigued, or the Apple Vision Pro sparked some interest, the Quest 3S is currently your most affordable way to bring it home with you. You don’t need to spend over £3,000 for all the swanky spatial computing features Apple showed off, as the Quest 3 headsets can do many of the same things.
I’m currently testing the Meta Quest 3S after reviewing the Meta Quest 3 when it launched last year. I only really use these devices for gaming, since the whole spatial computing thing feels a bit surplus to requirements for me. So far, I’ve really enjoyed my time with the Quest 3S, and it doesn’t feel that different from playing on the full-fat Quest 3. With either, you’re going to be getting one of the best VR headsets to play with, and since they can be used standalone or tethered to a PC, you’re giving yourself some nice versatility.
The only caveat I’d bring into all of this is that thanks to Cyber Monday gaming deals, PSVR 2 is currently on offer as well. In my eyes, anyone who already owns and plays games on a PS5 should be considering that visor, because it gets you more gaming features, and a better display for your money. Sony‘s option is currently down to £339 at Amazon, which makes it more affordable than the 256GB model of the Quest 3S.
