Pokemon Fan Art Gives Scizor a Demonic Makeover

One talented Pokemon fan recently gave Scizor a supernatural makeover inspired by the hit anime Demon Slayer. Scizor was first introduced in Pokemon Gold and Silver as a dual-type Bug/Steel evolution for Gen 1 creature Scyther, obtained when the Mantis Pokemon is traded while carrying a Metal Coat item. In Pokemon X and Y, Scizor gained an even more powerful Mega Evolution that is triggered by the Scizorite Mega Stone.

Like many of the creatures in the Pokemon universe, Scizor has been the subject of numerous fan drawings and other artwork, such as Japanese-style ink paintings that offer a more antique look at the Pincer Pokemon. Many of these drawings have Scizor fused with another Pokemon like Porygon or Mimikyu, with some even bringing the aforementioned Mega Scizor into the mix by combining it with the likes of Mega Garchomp.

Pokemon Fan Designs Regional Map for Chile

A creative Pokemon player designs their own in-game map based on Chile, complete with mountains, islands, and ideas for mythical creatures.

Reddit user abz-art looked to a different franchise for their own Scizor-related fusion, reimagining the already ferocious Gen 2 Pokemon as an Upper Moon Demon from the anime series Demon Slayer. As shown in a post on r/pokemon, the result is a stunning design that replaces Scizor’s metallic red skin with a bony white shell, its insect wings with batlike, demonic ones, and its pincer claws with a pair of dragon-shaped demon skulls. Abz-art had previously given this Demon Slayer crossover treatment to other Pokemon like Cubone, Blaziken, and Dragonite, combining them with either a demon or one of the titular Demon Slayers.

Demon Slayer/Pokemon Scizor Fan Design Has a Dash of Digimon

While this Scizor fan design is a mix of Pokemon and Demon Slayer, other users can’t help but notice that this version of the Mantis Pokemon wouldn’t look too out of place in Digimon, another beloved Japanese franchise that has often been compared to Pokemon due to them both containing elementally-empowered creatures that befriend humans and battle on their behalf. One fan in particular compared it to Omnimon, the Mega-level fusion of Digimon Adventure protagonists WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon.

Others think that abz-art’s impressive rendition of Scizor would work great as a Final Fantasy villain or an alternate Dragon or Ghost-type evolution in the mainline Pokemon series. Fans of Demon Slayer have commented about how difficult this demon would be to defeat, while those who haven’t watched that particular anime are simply appreciative of abz-art’s alternate Scizor design, which serves as yet another shining example of how Pokemon can inspire much creativity among its fans through artwork of their favorite characters.
