Pokemon TCG’s EX Hidden Legends is a fantastic set to open if you still have a sealed box. Though, are you willing to risk it all for a chance to get your hands on some of Hoenn’s most powerful Pokemon? Holographic cards have always looked nice, but Hidden Legends adds some unique twists to the familiar design.

You have your old-school designs as well as special crystalized holo cards that make up some of the coolest trios of cards. 10 Groudon $41.48

The Power Of The Earth

Groudon is one of the coolest-looking legendaries of all time with its red and black color palette and many claws and spikes. This holographic card features Groudon under the shining sunlight. The angle of the card art also allows you to appreciate just how big this legendary is.

This Fighting-type card has two Moves. Mud Shot does 20 damage for two Energy while Earthquake does 60 for four. It also hits your Bench, which, depending on your strategy, could be detrimental or offer you some value.

9 Vileplume Ex $46.63

Spreading Around Some Effect Spores

The VIleplume ex found in this set is one of the prettiest Vileplumes that isn’t a full art. It has a holographic green background that glimmers like emerald and a card border that also sparkles in the light.

Vileplume ex has a special Poke Body that stops your opponent from using most Trainer cards. Meanwhile, it combines all the different status effect powders in the form of the Special Formula move. For three Energy, this Move does 50 damage and either leaves your opponent’s Pokemon Asleep and Poisoned or simply Confused.

8 Wigglytuff Ex $55.11

Punches So Hard, It Falls Asleep

Wigglytuff ex is so cute it tucks itself out. Its mesmerized expression fits perfectly with the stars and bubbles that make up the holographic foiling of the card. Colorless holographics always have a distinct look to them that matches well with the white card design.

Sleepy Song does 30 damage for two Energy while also putting both Pokemon to Sleep. Meanwhile, Do The Wave does up to 80 damage as long as you keep your Bench full. This makes it a very fun and valuable card to have in your collection.

7 Regirock Ex $58.72

A Card That Goes Hard

The Hidden Legends set includes all three original Regis with a special foiling. Rather than having the usual bubbles found on holographic cards, they have a crystal-like pattern that you can see better when you tilt the card.

This Pokemon has a Poke Body called Healing Stone. This allows it to heal ten damage from itself between every turn. Meanwhile, Tonnage is a Move that deals 60 damage or 80 if you’re willing to let Regirock ex deal 30 damage to itself. Overall, this is an excellent Regirock printing and a gem for your collection.

6 Regice Ex $67.66

Cool As Ice

Regice ex also has that unique crystal-like foiling that makes it perfect when you collect all three of the Regis and hold them side by side. This card also has a Poke Body called Crystal Body that protects it from your opponent’s Move effects.

Freeze Lock is also a cool Move because it stops your opponent from attaching Energy to their Active Pokemon. This also deals 60 damage which for the time, wasn’t half bad. It’s an excellent card to pull from this set, so keep it safe if you have one.

5 Registeel Ex $84.65

A Precious Metal

The final card in the trio of Regis is Registeel ex. This Steel-type card has a special body design with metallic streaks running across it. This is a way to differentiate the white Colorless cards from the gray Steel cards.

Like the other Regis, Registeel ex has a Poke Body. This one is called Exoskeleton and reduces all incoming damage from attacks by ten. Steel Wave also punishes your opponent for using Pokemon of the same type with 50 damage to your opponent’s Active Pokemon and 20 to each one that shares its type.

Hitting Twice As Hard

If you’re looking for valuable Metagross cards, one can be found in this set. It has a unique Move called Metal Reversal, which drags out one of your opponent’s Benched Pokemon which then takes the 40 damage from this attack.

Metagross ex also has an Extra Comet Punch Move which scales if you use it two times in a row. This will do 50 damage the first time and 100 the next turn if you use it again. With these unique Moves, holographic design, and the popularity of the Pokemon it depicts, it has all the ingredients to be a card worth chasing after.

3 Kyogre Ex $104.87

The Legendary Of The Sea

Hoenn Legendaries are on a whole different level. The Kyogre ex found in this set is not just one of the more valuable cards in Hidden Legends, but it is also one of the most valuable Kyogre cards in general.

This Pokemon has a special interaction with Groudon ex and Rayquaza ex. Just for being in the Active Spot, Kyogre ex’s Poke Body, Mark of Antiquity, stops them from being able to attack. Water Arrow can hit the Bench, while Super Tidal Wave gets more powerful for each Energy in your hand.

2 Groudon Ex $110.61

The Legendary Of The Land

Like Kyogre ex, Groudon ex also stops its other legendary counterparts from attacking. However, this just means if any of them are out at the same time, it becomes a staring contest. This Groudon would definitely win that competition with its shadowy appearance on the card art.

This Pokemon also has a Move that has you revealing Energy in your hand. However, instead of shuffling them back into the deck after dealing damage, Groudon ex makes you discard them. Regardless, this is a very old-school Groudon card worth keeping.

1 Ninetales Ex $135.54

An Intimidating Fox

The most expensive card in Pokemon TCG: EX Hidden Legends isn’t even a legendary, but a Ninetales. This Pokemon has always had a very elegant look to it and in this printing, it looks even better. It almost looks like it is preparing to run straight out of the card art box.

Don’t mess with Ninetales ex. Intense Glare drags out a Benched Pokemon while leaving it Burned and Confused. Meanwhile, Fire Blast does a solid 100 damage making it a powerful attack for the time this card came out.
