Ditto is one of the strangest Pokemon ever created, as it doesn’t tend to stay in its natural form for long, instead using Transform to mimic a Pokemon it sees. Ditto’s Pokemon TCG career is even stranger, as it can appear as itself or as a copied form of other Pokemon. However, Ditto’s signature shortcoming is its inability to copy other Pokemon’s faces, leaving Ditto exposed as a clear impostor in most cases.

While it would be nice if Ditto could change itself into a valuable card from the most expensive Pokemon sets ever, the best Ditto cards still command respectable values. If there’s one thing to take away from the most valuable Ditto cards, it’s that Ditto is beloved as both itself and when it’s in disguise, so prepare to open your mind and your wallet to a host of possibilities.

5 Ditto: FireRed & LeafGreen (Holo Rare) – $20.57

Pudgy Pink Perfection

Ditto starts on the right foot with this simply superb design that features a dark, muted background that gives Ditto free rein to shine in all of its pink perfection. The holo blotches from the FireRed and LeafGreen gem are a gorgeous addition, courtesy of the cosmos holo pattern that was a standard of this era.

While its market price sits right around $20, you’ll only need to shell that much out for a near-mint (NM) copy. The Reverse Holo version of this card sells for more in NM condition, with the highest sale registering at $27.89. However, the Reverse Holo’s market price is lower, making it impossible to give it the advantage on paper, but this anomaly should correct itself with more sales.

4 Ditto (Bulbasaur): Delta Species (Reverse Holo) – $30.00

Hiding In Plain Sight

This Ditto-imitating-Bulbasaur card is one of a collection of similar valuable cards in Delta Species, where Ditto transforms into each of the original Kantonian starters, among some other goofy impersonations.

While Ditto is disguised, you’ll spot its small, beady eyes from miles away as an easy indication that the Pokemon is a transformed Ditto in reality.

While the previous Ditto suffered from a technicality that kept its Reverse Holo version down, this Reverse Holo card has a higher distinct market price, giving it the edge over the normal version. To compare the two versions, NM copies of the normal card commanded a high north of $30, but the Reverse Holo more than doubles that, with its highest sale at over $68.

3 Koga’s Ditto: Gym Challenge First Edition (Holo Rare) – $56.14

A Bold Beauty

Gym Challenge is renowned thanks to its wonderful collection of valuable cards featuring dynamic Pokemon and trainer duos. Surprisingly, Ditto is the perfect companion to Koga, as they both share more similarities than they would appear to at first.

While Koga’s association with Poison Pokemon is his most famous alignment, Koga is adept at hiding in plain sight, much like Ditto’s ability to do the same via Transform.

This first edition card starts at $22 for a damaged copy, working its way up to the $44 mark for a moderately played (MP) card. While that value is already impressive, lightly played (LP) copies lunge toward the $60 plateau, falling just a few cents shy. However, since there aren’t any recent NM sales, this Ditto still has room to soar in value, leaving the door open for it to move up.

2 Ditto: Fossil First Edition (Holo Rare) – $65.95

Raising The Bar

Ditto’s illustration in Fossil stands out as arguably this Pokemon’s most iconic depiction, as Ditto’s slick, gooey form shines in front of a darker blue and black background. Ditto appears to give us a wave with its right hand, as it wears its famous blank expression.

If you’re looking for a clean first edition copy, prepare to spend $66 or more for one in NM. If you want a nice card for a significant discount, LP copies drop to as low as $41, giving you an extra $25 to buy one of the other most valuable Dittos, if they tickle your fancy. MP drops below $30, making this card’s cost of entry fairly high compared to other options.

A Cute, Cuddly Charmander

The best Ditto card of all time features this famous pink Pokemon in the middle of impersonating Charmander with this adorable promo depiction. This rare iteration was distributed at the Origins 2007 expo, making it one of the hardest Ditto cards on this list to acquire, with limited availability on the secondary market.

Ditto starts at $30 for an HP copy, while MP cards typically jump to the $42 or $43 range. Unfortunately, the highest sale was only in LP condition, clocking in at $66.49, but leaving an uncertain ceiling for this card. An NM copy will likely help Ditto extend its lead, and there’s very little danger of it losing the top spot as the best Ditto card ever.
