While the MCU is kicking off its next phase officially in February with Captain America: Brave New World, it looks like another former member of the Avengers is very much in the plans for Marvel in the not too distant future. And as it turns out, this ex-Avengers ally might have a brand new partner in the form of Wolverine.
Wolverine AKA Logan just joined the MCU in this summer’s Deadpool and Wolverine and while it’s expected there will eventually be a sequel, it sounds like both characters could go in separate directions first. Deadpool is expected to make an appearance in Secret Wars, and it’s a safe bet that Wolverine will be there, as well as it promises to show off iconic superheroes and villains on a scale Marvel fans haven’t seen since Captain America: Civil War. Perhaps before or after Secret Wars, the most famous member of the X-Men could be getting his own movie alongside a former giant green rage monster who has gotten his more wild side under control.

Wolverine And Hulk As Buddies Or Enemies?
According to CBM, Twitter insider MyTimeToShineH, Marvel Studios has begun actively developing a Hulk vs. Wolverine movie. As of now, there’s no indication on what form this film will take or which versions of these characters fans can expect to see. It could be another Multiversal adventure starring Hugh Jackman and Mark Ruffalo, where they first square off against each other, only to realize they’re on the same side. It’s also possible this could be set in another world where either Hulk or Wolverine are not on the right side. It’s hard to know exactly how this story will be handled because Marvel is expected to do a soft reboot in the wake of Secret Wars, though just how much the MCU will be rebooted is obviously still up in the air.
The biggest reason it’s an open question as to just what kind of Hulk might be in this rumored movie is that there has been quite a bit of talk about the possibility that Marvel is planning a World War Hulk movie sometime in the next phase. It’s possible that if Wolverine does square off against Hulk it could be an evil version, perhaps even someone like Maestro, who is also rumored to be headed to the MCU at some point.
Maestro is a version of Bruce Banner from a future world where a nuclear war has wiped out most of the earth. However, instead of killing him, the radiation from this war essentially triggered Banner’s next level of evolution, making him even smarter than he already was. He also becomes even stronger and warped, believing that humans are below him. It’s this villain that could certainly be at the center of a movie where Wolverine has to fight rather than team up with Hulk.
Maestro has not been confirmed for the MCU yet.
For now, Wolverine vs Hulk is nothing more than a rumor, but should the former member of the Avengers be the main character in a standalone movie, it sounds like he might be paired up with an X-Man at some point.
