LEGO Fortnite offers a wide-open world where players can craft and explore to their heart’s desire. Whether it’s riding Klombos on the Lost Isles or taking on Skeletons come nightfall, the mode has a whole lot to offer. However, if players want to progress through the various biomes, they’ll need to level up their gear with the right resources.
There is a range of resources that players can acquire in LEGO Fortnite, and while essential items like Wood and Gravel are often needed, other resources are entirely optional. This is the case with Biomass, a resource that can only be acquired through a specific strategy. Here’s how to get Biomass in LEGO Fortnite.

How To Get Biomass
To get Biomass, players will first need to craft a Compost Bin. A Compost Bin is a Utility Station that converts resources into Fertilizer, Soil, or Biomass. To build a Compost Bin via the Build Menu, players will need the following resources:
- 5 Plank – Crafted via the Lumber Mill with Wood.
- 2 Soil – Harvested in the Grasslands using a Shovel.
- 1 Sand – Harvested on the Beach, Desert, and Shore biomes using a Shovel.
- 3 Fertilizer – Left behind by animals.
Once the Compost Bin has been built, players can use it to craft Biomass. To create Biomass via the Compost Bin, players need to place any kind of organic material inside for it to be converted. Any organic items will work, with eligible materials including consumables, Bones, Vines, and more.
Once inside, the Compost Bin will begin the conversion process, and when complete, players can expect to receive a mix of Fertilizer, Soil, and Biomass. The best items to use are consumables of any kind and Bones, as both yield consistent Biomass.
Alternatively, players can task their Villagers to work on the Compost Bin to receive Biomass passively. To do so, players simply need to speak to their Villagers and, when assigning them a work task, select the Compost dialogue option.
