A Fan-Favorite Marvel Show May Be Getting A Second Season

A Fan-Favorite Marvel Show May Be Getting A Second Season

Key Takeaways

  • Rumors are circulating about a potential second season of Hawkeye, with talk of production starting, but Marvel has not confirmed anything.
  • Marvel insiders speculate that Hawkeye Season 2 may not air until 2026 or 2027, with potential focus on Kate Bishop and handing off the franchise.
  • Despite speculation, there is no official confirmation from Marvel, Kevin Feige, or the actors on a second season of Hawkeye or their involvement in the MCU.

Three years ago, one of the most popular Disney+ series on the in the MCU aired with the rather unusual goal of giving a more grounded look at the every day life of one of the Avengers. Hawkeye wasn’t the kind of show that had a bunch of monsters running through town or aliences attacking an entire city. Instead, the series featured a rather small, self-contained story about Clint spending some time with his kids during Christmastime and Kate Bishop who was out to solve a mystery involving her family. While there has been radio silence since the season finale about a potential second installment of Hawkeye, it looks like things might be heating up in that area.

While nothing has been confirmed yet, rumors and whispers have started flying around social media in the last few days. Ironically, talk about a Hawkeye Season 2 really kicked up a notch right round the three year anniversary of the streaming series’ debut. Not only is there rumors of a second season, but dates on when production will start and when this next installment will air are all being tossed around.

Hawkeye Season 2 Rumored To Be Moving Forward

According to Cosmic Circus, the official production for Hawkeye Season 2 kicked off back in September. However, as of now, Marvel still hasn’t confirmed that there are any plans for the second season, let alone that anyone has actually started work on writing, casting or filming.

Despite the lack of confirmation, the rumors surrounding a Hawkeye Season 2 have even gone so far to nail down both when the production started and when Marvel fans can expect to see the show on Disney+. According to several purported insiders, Marvel is going to be taking its time working on the streaming series and doesn’t expect to launch the second season until 2026 at the earliest with a more realistic timeframe of 2027. That would of course mean a pause of six years between the first season’s finale and the second season’s debut.

With such a large gap in between seasons, it’s hard to really guess at what the central plot might be. However, there has also been talk that Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop will get a bigger role in the MCU, possibly as part of the Young Avengers. Should that be the case, and Steinfeld is on board with the series, Hawkeye Season 2 could be even more focused on her taking over the mantle of the eagle-eyed archer. It could even be a bowing out of sorts for Jeremy Renner and a handing over the franchise to a younger generation.

At this point, all of this is speculation until Kevin Feige or someone else from Marvel even hints that work is being done on a second installment of Hawkeye. Not only has the company not talked about any sort of production for the show, but both Steinfeld and Renner haven’t uttered a peep about either actor returning to the MCU in any way, let alone for the Disney+ show.
