An MCU Show Might Even Be Getting Its Own Deathly Spinoff

An MCU Show Might Even Be Getting Its Own Deathly Spinoff

Key Takeaways

  • Agatha All Along rumored to be getting its own spinoff show within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
  • The spinoff show might feature Aubrey Plaza’s character Death following successful predictions from a known source on social media.
  • Although Plaza-led spinoff is speculated, Agatha’s actions could shift focus to other characters, making her appearance likely as a crossover.

Agatha All Along might be getting its own Disney+ spinoff show within the Marvel Cinematic Universe despite being a spinoff itself. More interestingly, the rumored exclusive from a known source on social media came far earlier than fans expected.

Agatha All Along was officially announced shortly after the conclusion of Wandavision, the MCU’s first Disney+ series, and was sidelined by the fanbase as a largely unnecessary project after it became clear the project wasn’t going to hit screens in time to capitalize on the buzz surrounding Katherine Hahn’s brilliant and award-winning performance. However, the project would finally gain some focus after being confirmed as only one of three projects from the MCU releasing in 2024 alongside Deadpool & Wolverine in theaters and Echo on Disney+. The cast would also begin to fill out and excite fans, such as when Aubrey Plaza was attached to the project in a new Marvel role, giving viewers yet another reason to tune in.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps may have sneakily changed its title, and some Marvel fans think this name change is for the better.

While Plaza’s Agatha All Along character had a well-done reveal of her true nature close to the end of the show despite spoilers, there’s an even more impactful reveal to be seen from the source that broke the news of that true nature first. In a then-exclusive report from Giant Freakin Robot on X, who revealed that Plaza was set to portray death more than a year before the official reveal, the source asserts that Plaza’s Death would be getting her own spin-off show following the close of Agatha All Along. The tweet read, “Breaking 🤖 Exclusive: We’ve learned Aubrey Plaza’s Agatha: Coven of Chaos character, Death, will get her own Disney+ spinoff series.”This impressive prediction from the source, which predates the wave of similar predictions from other sources by several months, lends the second part of the prediction a lot of credence.

With an ending that successful, it might be a bit of a downer to talk about spin-offs instead of sequels, but Agatha’s actions have seemingly led her to a more supportive role in the wider MCU narrative, and her own show might not be the focus going forward. Much more likely, it is a project centering on Billy or, as this report supposes, one featuring Death in the lead role. While Agatha All Along didn’t have a post-credits scene to set up a spin-off, sequel, or second season, there’s every reason to keep an open mind about Death getting her own show. Adding to the pile of circumstantial evidence for this is a recently revealed omitted scene that the showrunner wrote for the show that has Death silently follow Billy and Agatha’s ghost through a portal at the end of the show’s climactic episode. While this would have been much more compelling if it had made it into the show, there are all sorts of reasons to drop that detail from the show that wouldn’t undermine a spin-off.

Fans should have their fingers crossed for the Plaza-led spinoff to materialize, as it’s clear that Speed doesn’t need his own MCU TV series thanks to his brother taking a proactive stance in his search for the other Maximoff sibling and Agatha’s next appearance is far more likely to come as a crossover in another MCU project than in a second season of her own show. It’s all still speculation, though, and the viewing audience will simpy have to wait and see where the franchise takes these characters next.
