It's the End of an Era for WWE 2K24

WWE 2K24 is nearing the end of its run with the recent release of its fifth and final DLC pack. The WWE game has received mostly positive reviews for its exciting roster and gameplay experience, including a mode that lets players relive iconic WrestleMania matches from the last 40 years. It’s also supported by a number of DLCs featuring classic eras that shaped WWE’s history, including the latest WCW pack.

The WWE 2K franchise has had its ups and downs, with 2K almost losing the publishing rights to EA due to poor performance. But 2K has definitely found its stride since WWE 2K22, and WWE 2K24‘s popularity shows a lot of promise for the next installment in the franchise.

WWE 2K24’s Latest DLC is a Great End to An Exciting Game

When WWE 2K24 was first revealed to the world earlier this year, there was a lot of excitement because of the improved graphics, exciting game modes, and a stacked roster that features current and legendary superstars. The quality of WWE programming since Paul Levesque, also known as Triple H, took over as chief content officer also possibly had a hand in the hype, as fans became more ecstatic about playing their favorite wrestlers in the game.

WWE 2K24 also had no shortage of nostalgia via its DLCs, which let fans access exclusive content based on specific WWE eras. The final DLC, called the WCW Pack, pays homage to the promotion’s most legendary stars. It gives players the chance to play as iconic headliners like Diamond Dallas Page, The Iron Sheik, The Great Muta, and more. It also includes a special surprise in the form of the Fall Brawl WarGames Arena, a classic ring that players could use in War Games and even regular matches.

The WCW Pack also signals the end of an era for WWE 2K24, as the game has already delivered the last of its promised season pass content. The timing also checks out since it’s confirmed that WWE 2K25 will come out by the end of March, so fans can expect updates, like the official covers and gameplay trailers, around January or February.

The Brewing Excitement Around WWE 2K25

Following the success of WWE 2K24, the expectations for WWE 2K25 to deliver realistic graphics and impressive performance are high. Likewise, many are looking forward to seeing who will be the featured faces on the game’s cover variants, which usually feature the top WWE wrestlers for the past year. WWE 2K24‘s covers featured Cody Rhodes, who was determined to “finish the story” and eventually win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship; other versions featured Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair, who are two of the most talented female wrestlers on the roster, and legendary wrestlers who made history at WrestleMania.

There are a number of WWE wrestlers who could become the next faces of WWE 2K25. A popular choice is definitely the “Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns, as fans want him to have his own cover after featuring alongside Becky Lynch in WWE 2K20. This would make sense, as he has been in a major storyline battling Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline for the past few months. Current World Heavyweight Champion Gunther is also a plausible choice, since he’s long captivated the audience with his imposing aura and impressive power in the ring.

WWE 2K25 could also pay homage to John Cena in a special cover to honor his final WWE match at Royal Rumble next year. WWE 2K24 already did something similar with the unique John Cena variants in-game, but the next installment definitely has an opportunity to further ride the wave of the legendary wrestler’s upcoming curtain call.
