Malekith Guide (Deck, Strategy, Counter)

Malekith Guide (Deck, Strategy, Counter)

Marvel Snap‘s Malekith is a four-Cost card that pairs well with almost any card that costs less than that. His ability summons a random card from your deck with a lower cost than his, placing it face-down until the game ends—like an enhanced Invisible Woman. If you’re aiming to capitalize on this effect in Marvel Snap’s current META, this guide will help you build the ultimate Malekith deck and determine whether he’s worth your resources.

The Best Deck for Malekith

the best deck in marvel snap for malekith.

In the current meta, Malekith works best in an Ajax-Hazmat lineup supported by the Speed-Wiccan duo. If you want to build a setup around these synergies, you are going to need the following cards as well: Baron Zemo, Grand Master, Luke Cage, Red Guardian, Ebony Maw, Hydra Bob, and Maximus.

Malekith Deck Synergies

  • Malekith’s ideal targets are one-, two-, and three-cost cards. You’ll want him to summon cards like Baron Zemo, Ebony Maw, Hydra Bob, or Maximus to maximize their Power without any downsides.
  • Luke Cage shields you from Hazmat and potential enemy tech cards like Shadow King.
  • Ajax is a win condition, able to grow into a massive card if Hazmat and Red Guardian are triggered beforehand.
  • Grand Master acts as your surprise card, letting you re-trigger powerful On Reveal effects like Hazmat’s.

How to Play Malekith

When playing Malekith, keep these points in mind:

  • You can see the card Malekith summons, but your opponent cannot. Tap the summoned card to check it and plan around its hidden abilities for the final reveal.
  • The hidden card’s On Reveal effect will trigger. Even though it’s revealed at the end of the game, its ability will activate unless blocked by board conditions like clog.
  • Ongoing effects of hidden cards remain active. If Malekith summons an Ongoing card, its effect will be in play, but it will only affect the board in the final round.

How to Counter Malekith

Malekith is vulnerable to Cosmo. Even if his effect has already been triggered, you can drop Cosmo in his lane to prevent his summoned card from activating. Many cards in Malekith decks rely on On Reveal abilities, which Cosmo can shut down. For extra protection, consider adding Luke Cage, Shadow King, or Shang-Chi to your deck.

Malekith isn’t dominant in the current metagame, so you won’t encounter many Malekith decks. It’s still wise to
be prepared for Surtur
, though, as Surtur counter decks often neutralize Malekith decks as well.

Is Malekith Worth It?

variants of malekith in marvel snap.

Malekith isn’t a must-have card, but it’s a solid, synergy-friendly option worth having on your roster. However, if you’re low on Spotlight Keys or Tokens, it’s better to skip him for now. Leaked cards suggest a major collaboration with Marvel Rivals, which could introduce some overpowered cards, so saving resources for that release is a smart move.

If resources aren’t an issue, go ahead and get Malekith. Despite his average stats, his ability can create powerful final-round synergies that can win you many Cubes.
