Overwatch 2 Season 13 Mythic Weapon Skin Explained

Overwatch 2 Season 13 Mythic Weapon Skin Explained

Overwatch 2 has been upping its skin game since it debuted its Mythic line, providing even more special effects and customization options. Players can even tailor their skins further now that the game offers stand-alone Mythic weapons, like Soldier: 76’s latest Deliverance gun skin. It feels like Overwatch 2 got some inspiration from Valorant regarding its Mythic weapons, as Deliverance shows off some unique animations and effects for different interactions.

Mythic is Overwatch 2’s highest skin tier, replacing Legendary. Cosmetics under this category often allow the player to change and combine the skin’s attributes, like color, armor, and weapon to their liking. These skins also have a different in-game currency called “Mythic Prisms.” Players can get enough Prisms (50) for Soldier: 76’s Deliverance base skin and upgrade tiers if they upgrade and complete their Battle Pass. If they don’t want to wait for the BP, they can buy 50 Mythic Prisms for around $39.99. The cosmetic also has three upgrade tiers which cost 10 Prisms ($9.99) each.

The third Mythic weapon skin in Overwatch 2 is now available for purchase, featuring some ghastly special effects, animations, and HUD elements.

Soldier 76’s Deliverance Skin in Overwatch 2 Delivers Eldritch Horror Vibes for a Price

Soldier: 76’s new Mythic weapon design blends the boney, gooey, and wispy appearances of Eldritch Horror monsters with modern pulse blaster technology. The rifle displays a demon’s face, with upturning fangs, glowing red eyes, and a mouth full of mist. This mist also escapes the weapon when firing and launching Helix Rockets. The base cosmetic also has distinct sound effects, which sound like the growls of the souls trapped within the weapon. Deliverance only ups the edginess, animations, and horror elements with every tier upgrade, which is similar to the weapon effect upgrades that Valorant has.

Deliverance Tier 2: Reactivity

Two transformations occur when a player gets a kill, which reset when Soldier: 76 dies:

  • Weapon: The Deliverance weapon seems like it’s used to capture souls, as the player will notice that the weapon’s sight area opens up and a mist surrounds it after getting a certain amount of kills. Weapon reactions are also present in other Mythic Weapons, like Reinhardt’s Bound Demon.
  • Heads-up Display (HUD): The area surrounding the ultimate counter will progressively generate stylized illustrations of two skulls as the player scores kills. This offers a bit of rewarding feedback when the player pops off during a match.

Deliverance Tier 3: Flourish

This tier is essentially an inspect animation similar to the skins in Valorant and Counter-Strike 2. In the case of Soldier: 76’s Deliverance, two soul-like orbs escape the rifle’s Demon mouth and move around the gun. The player can trigger this animation by pressing the reload button while the weapon is fully loaded.

Deliverance Tier 4: Kill Effect

Like the Finishers in Valorant, this 4th Tier shows an animation when the player slays an opponent. Unlike Finishers, which only show up when the player gets the final kill of the round, this effect is present in every kill. The Deliverance’s kill effect shows the enemy bursting into some kind of blue mist and turning into a ball of energy that the weapon consumes. This can be interpreted as the player essentially collecting their opponent’s soul.

The total cost for a complete Deliverance rifle in Overwatch 2 is 80 Prisms, which most players will need at least one fully unlocked BP cycle to afford. As such, those who want to get this skin may have to hold off on buying other Mythic cosmetics. Realistically, players will only spend $9.99 to get their fully kitted Deliverance Rifle, plus grind out games daily to unlock every BP tier until they get their 80 Prisms. However, those who want to fast-track their way to getting the skin and all its upgrades can get the Premium and Ultimate bundle, which come with 20-tier skips.
