With seven companions to romance and Rook only able to commit to one partner, it’s a good thing that Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s companions can potentially find love with one another. Depending on Rook’s choices, several members of Dragon Age: The Veilguard‘s party can possibly pair up, and one can even find love with a non-party NPC. While these romances typically do not happen until later in the game, they are actually foreshadowed much, much earlier.
Building off of Dragon Age: Inquisition’s possible relationship between a non-romanced Dorian Pavus and the Iron Bull, Dragon Age: The Veilguard has three potential pairings that do not involve Rook. Unfortunately, Veil Jumper Bellara and Grey Warden Davrin seem destined to end up single if not picked as Rook’s partner, but the others can find love in surprising places that the game cleverly hints at by carefully choosing which early party member leads the recruitment of their future partner.

Neve Recommends Lucanis’s Rescue
Lucanis Dellamorte, Antivan Crow assassin, starts the game imprisoned in an undersea facility called the Ossuary. In order to get Lucanis’ assistance, the team must break into the Ossuary and escape with the high-security prisoner – and their lives.
The one who suggests looking to the Antivan Crows for aid and ultimately plans Lucanis’ rescue is Neve Gallus, the Shadow Dragon detective who is one of Veilguard’s earliest party members. From there, Neve and Lucanis go on to remain closely connected by the game’s plot – they hail from the two cities attacked by blighted dragons in Chapter 6, they both come from factions that can potentially be nearly wiped out, and they can end up in a romantic relationship. Should Rook not pursue either, the pair engage in flirty dialogue and plan dates together – presumably going out for coffee, Lucanis’ signature favorite drink.
Harding Recruits Taash As A Dragon Slayer
After the gods are revealed to have dragons under their control, Scout Lace Harding suggests recruiting a dragon slayer to join the Veilguard. It is she who ultimately contacts the Lords of Fortune and enlists the help of Taash, who ends up joining the team as its dragon expert.
Like the other companions, both Harding and Taash can be romanced by Rook – the former romance being something fans have been waiting for since the dwarven scout’s first appearance in Dragon Age: Inquisition. If neither are chosen, however, the pair will openly express admiration of one another, with Taash even coming to Rook for advice on getting a gift for Harding. Like Neve and Lucanis above, they can end the game as a couple should both survive.
The Veil Jumpers Bring In Emmrich
The third couple is less directly foreshadowed than the previous two, but it is Bellara of the Veil Jumper faction who recruits Emmrich the Mourn Watcher, whose work she admires and with whom she had previously been penpals. Emmrich and Bellara do not get together, however they do develop an adorable friendship based around mutual curiosity and a love of study and learning.
Instead, a non-romanced Emmrich will ask out Strife, an older Dalish elf who is a member of the Veil Jumpers team and an ally of the Veilguard. Having spent most of his life in the Grand Necropolis and having little experience with romance, Emmrich will be rather shy, but will confirm delightedly at the end of the game that he and Strife have been on at least one date and are planning more in the future. All three of these companion relationships can happily co-exist alongside Rook and their own chosen partner, and all are cleverly foreshadowed by the game’s narrative structure and quest progression.
