Every Feature Confirmed for LEGO Horizon Adventures Explained

LEGO has been making some pretty solid decisions in the world of gaming recently. 2022’s LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was a major step forward for the usual licensed LEGO game formula, and last year’s LEGO Fortnite mode became an overnight sensation and is still incredibly popular almost a whole year later. Now, LEGO Horizon Adventures is set to take center stage, putting a charming twist on a beloved PlayStation first-party franchise.

Slated to release on November 14 for PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch, LEGO Horizon Adventures is set to offer both fans and newcomers alike a fun romp through Horizon‘s bright post-apocalyptic world. There are plenty of features confirmed for LEGO Horizon Adventures‘ imminent launch, many of which long-time LEGO video game fans will surely recognize.

LEGO Horizon Adventures Puts a Humorous Twist on a Familiar Story

Like all licensed LEGO games before it, LEGO Horizon Adventures takes a popular franchise and gives it the trademark LEGO twist, injecting a familiar story with humor and charm. LEGO Horizon Adventures will take players through a rough retelling of the events of 2017’s Horizon Zero Dawn, where Aloy must save what remains of the Earth from a mysterious digital threat, and a cult of sun worshippers.

While LEGO Horizon Adventures‘ campaign is sure to hit most of the important beats from Horizon Zero Dawn‘s story, it’ll be adding plenty of its own material, usually in the form of jokes and on-screen gags. Fans can expect to see plenty of jokes that flip Horizon‘s usually darker tone on its head.

According to recent previews,
LEGO Horizon Adventures
‘ main story will take around 6–8 hours to finish.

LEGO Horizon Adventures Features Solo and Co-Op Gameplay

With LEGO Horizon Adventures being developed by Studio Gobo and Guerrilla Games as opposed to Traveler’s Tales, long-time LEGO video game fans might be surprised by LEGO Horizon Adventures‘ gameplay. LEGO Horizon Adventures will be played from an isometric perspective, where players traverse through a level, smash their way through environments, and target weak points on Machines to take them down.

Though its gameplay may be taking a slightly different approach from TT Games’ LEGO entries, LEGO Horizon Adventures is still carrying forward TT’s penchant for co-op. LEGO Horizon Adventures will feature both online and split-screen 2-player co-op. One player controls Aloy, while the other becomes Varl, Teersa, or Erend.

Customization Is Around Every Corner in LEGO Horizon Adventures

LEGO, by its very nature, encourages creativity and customization, and the best LEGO video games carry that inherent premise forward. LEGO Horizon Adventures is one such game. After each level in LEGO Horizon Adventures, players return to the hub area of Mother’s Heart, the Nora Tribe’s home base. Here, players can unlock unique buildings to customize their hub area, including some bizarre options like theme park rides and disco floors.

LEGO Horizon Adventures will also feature character customization, which was sorely missing from TT Games’ last entry, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. While players can’t create their own Horizon hero, they can customize Aloy and the rest of her team’s appearance via costumes. These costumes range from outfits based on iconic LEGO themes, like a classic blue space suit, to Horizon-themed outfits, to costumes based on fellow PlayStation franchises like Little Big Planet and Ratchet and Clank.
