Ode to Castlevania weapon evolutions

Ode to Castlevania weapon evolutions

It’s been several years in the making, but Ode to Castlevania is the latest Vampire Survivors DLC that’s an homage to its inspiration, and it comes with its own set of weapon evolutions for budding Belmonts to discover. In addition to the existing weapons that help keep Dracula’s minions at bay, there are a host of new whips, spellbooks, and tossable objects to evaporate any potential threats.

However, in order to upgrade all the Vampire Survivors Ode to Castlevania DLC weapons, you’ll need to combine them with their respective passive items. This is simpler said than done, particularly as the unlockable Grimoire only shows you after you’ve got each individual evolution. Progression is locked behind getting a handful of them, but the survival game does not indicate which ones go with each other. Below, you’ll find a list of all the Ode to Castlevania weapon evolutions, as well as any with unique conditions to unlock them.

How to Get Vampire Survivors Ode to Castlevania Weapon Evolutions

Vampire Survivors Ode to Castlevania Weapon Evolutions: the Darkasso with the Moonlight Bolero option selected.

Much like the base game, the method for progression in the DLC is to upgrade your weapons into their evolved forms and unlock new characters. This is done by maximizing their ranking by leveling up or collecting chests. If you have invested a lot of time into Vampire Survivors, you should take full advantage of reroll, skip, and banish powerups. These can filter the ever-expanding list of items and weapons to get the ones you need to complete your current run. You could always cheat to skip parts of the DLC, but where’s the fun in that?

Another powerful set of tools for you to use to help with the weapon evolution hunt are the decks of Randomazzo Arcana cards you choose during your run. Some of the more useful ones here are the new Darkasso Cards which have powerful abilities. The VI – Moonlight Bolero makes enemies with chests appear more frequently, while X – Hail From The Future gives you an item every level up. The latter of these gives you the chance to pick up the Candybox or an Arma Dio, which gives you a weapon or passive item of your choice, making getting weapon evolutions a lot easier.

By default, there are six slots for weapons and six for items. The most efficient way to fill them in each run is to use level-ups but focus on any that aren’t currently present on the map. Getting the Ode to Castlevania level map is as easy as following the green arrow by pressing the pause button. Once you have it, you should see icons of all the items available around the map screen, which can be found in the pause menu. This includes cursed items like gold and silver rings, which you don’t need to evolve any of the Castlevania DLC-exclusive weapons, so be careful as you approach them so as not to awaken the spirits within.

Below is a table with all the possible weapon and item combos. Note that where it says “(Max)” next to a passive item, you need to rank the passive item in addition to the base weapon fully.

Up to and including Melio Confodere, the first half of this list includes weapon evolutions that are available before unlocking Dracula. The rest appear alongside the new additions to the roster, with one exception that appears when you find the pile of secrets, so here are all the Vampire Survivors Ode to Castlevania weapon evolutions:
